White Flight From Southern Democrats Doomed Mary Landrieu
National Journal ^ | 12/07/2014 | SCOTT BLAND

Democrats have been worried about the African-American vote in Louisiana for months. But what really doomed Sen. Mary Landrieu's reelection bid was the near-monolithic white vote against her.

Landrieu's loss Saturday to Republican Sen.-elect Bill Cassidy followed a November all-party primary in which the incumbent got a lower share of the white vote (18 percent) than all other Democratic Senate candidates in the country but one, according to exit polling. There was no exit poll Saturday night due to a lack of media interest in the runoff, perhaps because even Landrieu's campaign acknowledged that she would need at least 30 percent support from white voters to win another term, a huge jump from her baseline in November.

That's about what Landrieu received when she won her final Senate term in 2008, and her drop-off since then highlights how the white voters who used to be the Democratic Party's Southern foundation have left—and how the party has collapsed without them.

"She came home to a sea of change since she last ran," said Bernie Pinsonat, a pollster in the state. "We don't have any Democratic statewide officials, after her, left. The Legislature is now dominated by Republicans; you don't even need a Democrat to pass a bill. Next year there will be maybe 10, or maybe eight or seven white Democrats left in the entire Capitol building. There's been a mass exodus and not something that had gone unnoticed. I don't know why she ran for reelection."

From the posted article:

This is the kind of spin that is soooo typical with pro-'Rat writers and commentators on electoral politics.

First, Democrats don't worry about the black vote in terms of percentage of votes for each candidate. They take for granted that 90+% of it will go to them. What they do worry about is the number of black voters who will cast ballots. That's why their fraud machine is geared to manufacturing votes that wouldn't otherwise exist in predominantly African-American precincts.

Second, this writer has some gall to refer to white vote as "near-monolithic" against Landrieu. Her getting 18% of the white vote hardly qualifies for that description. If in some hypothetical election, the GOP candidate were to get 18% of the African-American vote, these same lefty MSM pundits would never call it "near-monolithic." They'd be too busy crying in their beer, because they know that in state wide elections, it would generally spell doom for their candidate.

While it's laudable that George C. Wallace became a Christian, he did pal around with the demonstrably evil Jesse Jackson. While Wallace was renouncing racism, it would have been great had he renounced the virulent racist Jackson.

Do you think we will ever see the day when “reverend” Al repents?

Although anything is possible, the probability of either Jesse Jackson and/or Al Sharpton becoming Christians seems quite low at this point, in my opinion. In the event that either or both do sincerely repent and accept Christ, they'll be welcomed as prodigals who saw the light.

” None of her views have changed.”

Not too many years ago there was such a thing as a conservative Democrat. They pretty much got drummed out of their party.

When I was 30 and single, I did not hate men, not at all. Don’t generalize like that.

If a third of black voters start defecting, [the Democrats] are finished.

Won't take anywhere near that percentage. If only 10% of black voters went from 'Rat to GOP, putting the black GOP vote around 20% - and the fraud machine was stymied somewhat - the 'Rats would lose so many statewide races that their chances of electing presidents and controlling either house of Congress would be slim to none. (Getting tough on illegal immigration would be an issue that would resonate in the black community, but it probably won't happen with the current RINO bunch in Washington.)

As I understand it the way the rats took over RI in the 30’s was practically a coup d’etat. Eh DJ?

Funny how the whites' low 18% for this one candidate is "monolithic", and yet black votes routinely going 90+% for any Dem, or 95+% for any black, is never described in that manner.

They really do have nothing left but the Race Card. It's getting rather pathetic lately.

RI is an illustration of what can happen when the minority party falls to such low numbers to become unviable.

No town is motivated to elect a GOP state Rep because they lose influence. it becomes logistically not possible to break the stranglehold. Rhode Island is Cook County on different scale.

The white stool in the rainbow coalition has literally dropped off.

Oh, there's still a white stool. It's down the hall to the left.

And yes, it's the stool that gets all the sh*t.

That leaves the Democrats between a rock and a hard place. If a third of black voters start defecting, they’re finished.

It could happen.

Black Democrat-turned-Republican eviscerates Landrieu
'A 1-night-stand every 6 years' ad goes viral
(Fox News) Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas), a former Democrat, was featured in an political advertisement which recently went viral.
The ad criticizes longtime Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), during which Guillory says in part: “you are not her cause, and you are not her charity– you are just a vote.”

Wait until Elijah Cummings, James Clyborn, Marcia Fudge, Sheila Jackson Lee and Hank Johnson become the new leadership faces of the Democratic Party.....

Excellent point, C/B----these self-absorbed Dems are clueless. Everytime then-leaders Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi went before the mics, several million more Americans turned tail---which resulted in the midterm route.

Pelosi even congratulated herself for her moronic" We have to vote for O/Care to see what's in it." She was completely clueless WRT the revulsion she caused.

=================================================

Sen-Elect Cassidy summed it up best in his acceptance speech: "This victory happened because people in Louisiana voted for a government that serves us, that does not tell us what to do," Dr Cassidy said.

Amen. He can include the rest of the US in those ringing sentiments.

The midterm sweep left 1-2 slivers of coastal territory and splotches of interior to Dems. Heck, Dems have literally "hundreds of votes" under their control (/snix).

Democrats now control votes in the inner city, gangland strongholds, sleazy Hollywood motels, landfills, Indian reservations, pineapple plantations, fast food joints, Boston beaneries, coastal clam shacks, surf shops, flop houses, gay baths, and payday loan mills.

What the Republican takeover looks like as of midnight 11/5---Alaska and LA went Republican later.
