A nationally-known pro-abortion activist has been arrested on charges of raping a 15-year-old boy. Terrance Patrick Bean is the founder of Human Rights Campaign, a group that pushes other political issues but also takes a steadfastly pro-abortion position.
Human Rights Campaign, in addition to advancing abortion, has also lobbied Congress to end all federal funding for abstinence education, and hailed one piece of legislation that cut off funding because it “would end abstinence-only-until-marriage programs once and for all.” Bean is also a prominent supporter of pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
The Portland Oregonian newspaper has more on Bean’s indictment, reporting that “Detectives from the Portland police Sex Crimes Unit arrested Portland developer Terrence Patrick Bean on Wednesday on a Lane County indictment stemming from alleged sex abuse involving a teenage boy in 2013.”
Bean was arrested at his home in Southwest Portland and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center yesterday morning.
The indictment charges Bean with two counts of third-degree sodomy, a felony, and one count of third-degree sex abuse, a misdemeanor, police said.
Bean, who bailed out of jail by late Wednesday afternoon, will be arraigned on the indictment in Lane County.
Detectives in Portland’s Sex Crime Unit are the lead investigators in the case and have been working closely with the Clackamas County and Lane County district attorneys’ offices.
The alleged incident involved a sexual encounter in Eugene with a 15-year-old boy.
Another person alleged to have been involved in that encounter is also expected to face arrest as part of the indictment.
“The investigation began in Portland, but the criminal episode occurred in Lane County,” said police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson.
Lane County Chief Deputy District Attorney Patricia Perlow declined to release any information about the case or the indictment.
Bean has been one of the state’s biggest Democratic donors and an influential figure in gay rights circles in the state. He helped found two major national political groups, the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, and has been a major contributor for several Democratic presidential candidates, including Barack Obama. He’s also a close friend of former Gov. Barbara Roberts.
Bean’s Flickr account shows him talking with Obama at several events, posing with first lady Michelle Obama and numerous other political figures, including former President Bill Clinton.

They are trouble when they have political power backing them. In fact, if anyone knew they had so much power backing them, few would be able to maintain decent character.
The liberal belief is that abortion is a human right of the highest order, along with marriage. They also believe that we would be an awful, oppressive, society like the fascists without abortion. Make of that what you will, but I have seen the details of abortion, enough to see that the fetus has many of the same features I do, such as organs and nerves, and all I know, having some gash an puncture wounds from accidents I suffered, is that the fetus has to hurt from that operation. Seeing some of the same organs I have getting butchered on the fetus is equally disgusting.

Bigger than that. They are out to destroy any honest belief in Jesus Christ. That’s what this is all about. Why else make “sins” in the same category as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, or the right to due process? They are doing this because it is all part of a grand plan to prosecute religion as a crime. In no small part, this is being helped by a large estimated segment of the population that belongs to no religion, not all of them, but there is certainly a militant atheist segment in the mix. Pew polls estimate that close to 1/3 are not affiliated with any organized religion.
Put in mind that the Supreme Court has classified polygamy, incest, and underage sex, as crimes that you can prosecute a religion for as part of the public good. I doubt that will be the only one.
Do I fight this with my part in the public outrage? Sure. But at the same time, those who were predicting the dire consequences on the nation 10-20 years ago are anything but crazy now.
