Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who nipped at Mitt Romneys heels in the 2012 Republican presidential primary, says hes eyeing mid-2015 for a decision about a second White House bid.
Four years ago, we ended up announcing in June of 2011. If past is a portent of the future, thats probably a ballpark, he said in a phone interview.
Santorum said hes actively engaged with party donors and activists to assess whether he has a path to the nomination.
Were doing everything consistent with making an effort, he said. Were talking to donors, were looking at talking to people in the early primary states and trying to get a gauge of support and doing the grunt work, if you will, of seeing whether theres a path forward for us.

Go away Rick.
Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.
Another retread who couldn’t keep his Senate seat apparently doesn’t have anything better to do than make another futile run for the WH.
How soon before the Vestbots arrive and push Santorum propaganda in every related thread?
You forgot to say please...
Please go away Rick.
—ditto to 1, 2, and 3—
He actually had a shot at the nomination until he started yapping about "the need to compromise".
I think it would be as I have said before, an Alan Keyes type of candidacy, he’ll end up not participating in the debates, maybe the first one but I don’t think he will get a lot of votes to continue.
And I’m not among those who are conspiracy-oriented, who think he would be a “stealth” “stalking horse” candidate. If somehow, the likes of Walker or Cruz did not run, I might think about it.
No, please; no.
Rick,
Look, we threw your ass to the curb by 20 points.. please, go away. Keep doing what you do in the private world, but please, just go away from politics. I am not unappreciative of your previous service, but time has moved on and you are not the man for the job.
Save your money, Rick.
Where’s my sweater vest ?
NO RETREADS!
I worked hard on Santorum’s first senatorial campaign in 1994. There were 10 and 12 hour days. That said, GO AWAY, Rick.
Come on Rick; you tried already. You couldn’t even hold onto a Senate seat as an incumbent. GO GET A FREAKIN’ JOB DUDE!!!
Rick, please don’t.
You aren’t going to win. And you can only gum up the works for someone who can.
NO!!!!
I supported him in 1994 before he proved himself a party hack supporting Arlen Specter here in PA and Lisa Murkowski in AK in 2004.
I see him as a diversionary candidate to siphon off conservative religious votes so the Romney type candidate wins.
” Another retread who couldnt keep his Senate seat apparently doesnt have anything better to do than make another futile run for the WH.”
He wants a high paying job as a lobbyist.
At least if Santorum runs, it hurts a hypothetical Huckabee candidacy in Iowa.
