Editorial: SC, US need Lindsey Graham in Senate
The State ^ | October 28, 2014 | Editorial Board

Posted on 10/28/2014 11:45:00 PM PDT by Bettyprob

COLUMBIA, SC — THE GOOD THING about Brad Hutto is that he doesn’t try to convince us that Lindsey Graham is a liberal. Which is to say that, unlike the six opponents Mr. Graham easily swept aside in the Republican primary, and unlike the reality-show self-promoter who is self-financing a quixotic independent campaign against him, Mr. Hutto is not unhinged from reality.

To the contrary, Mr. Hutto has had a respectable career in the state Senate, where, despite being part of an ever-dwindling minority party, he has had a significant amount of influence on public policy — sometimes for good, sometimes for ill. But regardless of the result, he is someone who understands, like Mr. Graham, that government is about working with people with different points of view to come to a reasonable consensus. And this is probably the most important understanding that a lawmaker can have.

The bad thing about Mr. Hutto is that he wants to be a state senator. Well, that in itself might not be so bad, if he were content to remain in the state Senate. But he wants to replace Sen. Graham in the U.S. Senate, and his main complaint about the incumbent is that he keeps acting like … a U.S. senator.

It’s a bizarre state we live in, where governors and state legislators can’t seem to talk about anything but federal issues, and candidates for federal office think it’s wrong to talk about federal issues.

Fortunately, Mr. Graham understands that he is in fact a U.S. senator.

As an editorial....it’s a one-star written piece. But, maybe forty thousand SC folks will read it, and for twelve folks, it’ll change their opinion of Graham forever. Twelve more votes than he had yesterday.

I believe that’s all I really need to say. :)

We need a Republican majority if we want to have anything left of our country. I am not happy with Graham and many of the GOP candidates; but at this point, we don’t have any other options. For those who consider not voting because they are just too disgusted with the GOP, please think long and hard about what will happen if there is nothing to check Obama’s dismantling of our country.

“The State” is liberal toilet paper. Of course they would endorse Linda.

Mostly die hard dims and seasoned citizens read the local edition of the daily worker which is my name for that rag.

My other name for it is El Estado since it is a mouthpiece anyway.

It is probably the second worst newspaper in SC. The absolute worst to me is the always pathetic Rock Hill Herald.

OOPs..... that might be a violation of Free Republic Doctrine. It is however a correct assessment.

Think GOPc....... think Conservative wing of the Republican Party. The GOPc is the only viable group that can advance the Conservative agenda

The GOPc is the medicine to cure the GOPe malady

I’m not a fan of “Linda” but who should they endorse? The liberal democrat scumbag? The libertarian cokehead reality tv “star”? Ain’t no real conservative in the race. I’d take “Linda” over those other 2 losers.

They shouldn't endorse anybody. Just report unbiased news. That's their job.

Uh, no, we don’t. I’d take any Republican-registered voter from South Carolina and they would do better than the back-stabbing McCain-loving reach-across-the-aisle nancy-boy Graham.
