MONROVIA, Liberia - Six U.S. military planes arrived in the Ebola hot zone Thursday with more Marines, as West Africa's leaders pleaded for the world's help in dealing with "a tragedy unforeseen in modern times."
The fleet that landed outside the Liberian capital of Monrovia consisted of four MV-22 Ospreys and two KC-130s. The 100 additional Marines bring to just over 300 the total number of American troops in the country, said Maj. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, the commander leading the U.S. response.
Williams joined U.S. Ambassador to Liberia Deborah Malac at the airport to greet the aircraft, which arrived in two groups of three.
As vehicles unloaded boxes of equipment wrapped in green-and-black cloth, the Marines formed a line on the tarmac and had their temperatures checked by Liberian health workers.

That's the ticket!
“the Marines formed a line on the tarmac and had their temperatures checked by Liberian health workers.”
Exposed as soon as they stepped off the plane. And I wanna know why a damned Liberian health worker checked ANY Marine. That’s what USN Corpsmen are responsible for. Obama is vile.
This is the October Surprise promised us by Democrats...
...We’re all gettin’ Ebola !
Will we see a scene like the fall of Saigon if they have to leave fast?
In a few weeks the Army will take over from them.
“The 100 troops mostly Marines, along with some Navy corpsmen are part of a force of up to 3,600 U.S. troops that could deploy to West Africa to help efforts to stem the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. The outbreak has so far claimed more than 3,000 lives and could infect 1.4 million more.
So far, about 350 troops are on the ground now, running laboratories, setting up treatment facilities, training healthcare workers and assisting with logistics.
The Marine unit will provide supply and transportation assistance for the anti-Ebola effort until Army units arrive later this month to take over the possibly year-long mission.”
Pure insanity.
The Marines should have been checking the temperature of those Liberians, not the other way around. This is nonsense.
If those Marines come down with Ebola in short order, I’d be looking for some Liberian health workers, with orders to exterminate.
That wasn’t the military fleeing Saigon.
the Marines formed a line on the tarmac and had their temperatures checked by Liberian health workers.
Pure insanity.
Were they using rectal thermometers ?
ansel12 disappointed in you, You know what I meant.
Will the civilian population try to hitch a ride at any cost?
Hasn’t the Army been involved with this since the beginning ?
I posted this at another FR site: Another very disturbing development. Since the big drug companies and the medical establishment dont have a cure, and it will take months to develop the experimental drugs and vaccines, then common sense says they should immediately try something simple, cheap and readily available. That would be high dosage Vitamin C. Ebola wipes out Vitamin C stores in the patients body immediately and they then die from symptoms like rampant scurvy. Dr Frederick Klenner many years ago tried high doses of IV and oral Vitamin C with considerable success on virus diseases and toxic poisoning by snakes and spiders. To learn more Google his name and also Vitamin C treatment for Ebola. Pass this on to everyone you know or has some authority to try this out. Even if it doesn’t work, there is virtually no danger of overdose with Vitamin C.
I sent more detailed info to my son who is in Special Forces and he plans to go right out and buy several bottles in case it comes here or he gets suddenly deployed.
A disaster waiting to happen. Pity our military, now used as an NGO.
Makes sense. The marines came from a country with a case of Ebola including a death, open borders with lots of criminalians, and a BAD case of Øbola. These Monrovians can't be too careful.
Checking temperatures, like that is a catch all. Exposed to Ebola one day 1, temperature taken on day 3, wow you’re clean. Fly home and on day 18+ or so you are contagious.
Stupid.
On a related note, the Marines held a pandemic drill at the New River Air Station, near Jacksonville, North Carolina on Wednesday. Officials said the exercise had been in the planning stages for the past nine months.

Pretty good bet that some of the Osprey crews who landed in Liberia are from MCAS New River and their fellow Marines are based at Camp Lejeune. The Marine Corps is clearly concerned that some of those deployed may be exposed to Ebola and bring it back to southeastern North Carolina.
Pray for their safety.
