The sign said Yield Sneakers Bacon: i.e., yield to the allure of the delicious bacon at Sneakers Bistro. But in the end it was the operators of Sneakers who yielded. For them, diversity means making the world a bit less diverse, by yielding to the Islamic supremacist demand that Infidels must conform their behavior to Muslim sensibilities. Remember the ironclad and ever-reinforced principle: in Muslim countries, non-Muslims must change their behavior to avoid offending Muslims. And in non-Muslim countries, non-Muslims must change their behavior to avoid offending Muslims.
Advertisement removed after resident expresses offense, by Hannah McDonald, WPTZ.com, August 23, 2014 (thanks to JJ):
WINOOSKI, Vt. A sign on a lamp post at the bottom of the Winooski Circle displayed the words Yield Sneakers Bacon until Friday morning. The bistro owners took it down.
It got there as part of Operation Bloom.
A city program put it in place to keep its flower beds beautiful. If businesses do some gardening they can post an advertisement where they do it, but the word bacon on the Sneakers Bistro sign started a discussion about diversity on the Winooski Front Porch Forum.
It started with a post from one woman who wrote that the sign was insensitive to those who do not consume pork. She said as a Muslim she is personally offended by it.
The owners of Sneakers spoke to WPTZ. They say theyve reached out to the individual who made the post and proactively took the sign down. They also say they regret any harm caused by the sign, and that their goal was never to cause stress or bad feelings.
Its nice that they were respectful enough to take it down, said Caleb Wiley an area resident, but I also think they shouldnt have, or had to at any right.
Other Winooski residents joined the conversation, and online too. One post reads the word bacon is not offensive. Its something that describes food.
Winooskis city manager spoke on behalf of the city. She said:
The cool part of living in a diverse community is that its not always comfortable. Its a fascinating place with lots of opportunities for conversation. The City has to pay attention to a lot of factors while acting within what we can regulate, said Katherine Deac Decarreau.
Others recognize its a complicated issue, too.
I respect her religion and her right to believe what she wants but Im pretty sure the first amendment extends to bacon and the selling of it.
Sneakers owners say their goal is to provide a joyful place for the entire community.
The Winooski Islamic Community Center was not available for comment.
This so-called “woman” offends me. How can she be so ignorant of Freedom in this country? I’ll eat some fatty bacon in her honor and “fart in her general direction” (my apologies to Monty Python).
or rather,P. Mommy. Why are Muslims so hateful?
Jihad. (submit infidel)
To further prevent offense, they should voluntarily convert to Islam, or cut their own heads off.
I’m so hungry for BACON right now! BACON, Lettuce tomato on toast! With MUSTARD! Two of them!
Only because the restaurant owner agreed. I would not have.
It didn’t say Pork Bacon. You can buy Turkey Bacon.
Maybe they should Post a picture of Foley getting his Head sawed off. That would make the “offended” person happy I’m sure.
If I lived in that area I would inform Sneakers that I would deliberately avoid there establishment due to their decision to bring down the sign.

Sounds like a plan.
Have ALL conversations elsewhere and let them and their (apparently) preferred customers have the place to themselves.
Within a decade a shooting war will begin in this country. As muslims cause more deaths here, an angry population will be shooting back. It will be wise not to look like an ass-lifting death-cultist.
I might make an error
Amen! Not sure if she is a convert or an immigrant, but for goodness sake, bacon and eggs is about as American as apple pie—all these people and their touchy sensibilities should get over it...As A Christian, I am offended by much I see, but I don’t drop notes, make FB post, etc. on every business, movie, tv show, magazine, etc. This is the USA, and we have the FREEDOM to have a difference of opinion.
The cool part of living in a diverse community is that its not always comfortable.”
We’ll see how cool it is once the beheadings begin.
Poor Muslims! I’ll bet they can hardly leave the house without getting offended by something here in the land of the dirty-dog infidel. I am not too easily-offended, but in some ways I know how they feel; for example, whenever I drive past a mosque. Or, when I see women in burkhas safely enjoying a shopping mall in my country, and I think about how their co-religionists are slaughtering my co-religionists in Muslim countries.
Is this how they did it in England and Europe?
Hacking off the head of an innocent prisoner with a knife is against my religion.
These Moslems cry about bacon ads but not one damn word against their people that are hacking off the heads of innocent prisoners. Screw ‘em.
Yeah well female genital mutilation offends me!
Which do you think is worse? That or bacon?
I’m offended by Muslims. The future must not belong to those who slander bacon!
