In a sign that the indictment of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for abuse of office and coercion may not be having the political effects some have hoped for, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Republican junior senator from Texas, has taken to his Facebook page to express support for the governor. Cruz is considered a possible rival to Perry for the Republican nomination for president in 2016. However differences are being set aside, at least for the time being, to rally around Perry.
Unfortunately, there has been a sad history of the Travis County District Attorney's Office engaging in politically-motivated prosecutions, and this latest indictment of the governor is extremely questionable. Rick Perry is a friend, he's a man of integrity I am proud to stand with Rick Perry. The Texas Constitution gives the governor the power to veto legislation, and a criminal indictment predicated on the exercise of his constitutional authority is, on its face, highly suspect.
Cruz, an honors graduate of Harvard Law School, served as Texas Solicitor General for a time, having been appointed to that post by current Texas Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott. Cruz also taught Supreme Court litigation at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, a subject he is somewhat familiar with as he argued a number of cases before that court as solicitor general. He currently serves in the United States Senate and is said to harbor higher political ambitions.
Cruzs endorsement of Perry suggests that, at least in the short term, Perrys indictment has had the effect of raising his popularity among conservatives. Whether this will last if the case drags on, a certain hope by Democratic partisans, remains unclear. Also unclear is how many other Republican office holders, especially potential presidential

Just a dirty trick. Travis County is the People’s Republic of Texas, Pyongyang on the Colorado.

I just have a feeling this will blow up in their face and end up being a “bloody shirt” for Rick and Texas Republicans to wave. The stink of desperation on this is very thick. We’ll see.

The money line is, “if this drags on....”.
THAT is the strategy. The Tom Delay treatment is Texas tradition.
Rick gets buried under Leftist legal eagles, Cruz gets worn down eventually for carrying on any long term, meaningful support, meanwhile turning Texas blue remains on the march.
Democrats are thugs to the core.

Cruz is firing many accurate broadsides.
But that ain't gonna win us the war! Ted, Program, Plan, Specifics .... that's what we need to get the Republic back on track. Spell it out, boy!
Give me a 15-step platform.

Hopefully, this event will finally wake everyone up in my state, and realize we have to cut the nads off The Travis County DA's office once and for all.
I have already emailed my state rep and senator. How about everyone else?

Cruz is next. Dont doubt it.Even liberals admit that Cruz is one of the brightest lawyers in the entire country. I'd seriously doubt Ted would ever be put in that position.

Only saying Cruz is in their sights and a contrived indictment (like Perry’s and Delay’s) is likely in the works.

Remember Palin had a half million in lawyer bills and court costs in Alaska in a similar BS deal. She retired rather than lose another 2 million in personal wealth.
This is part of the new Democrat play book since slandering Palin IMO.

Reagan tried that in 1976 with his $90 billion budget cut. That may have cost him Florida in the primaries. In 1980, he did promote Kemp-Roth (30% tax cut), income tax indexing, and a precursor to NAFTA, and getting rid of Dept of Ed and Energy (Oh well). Of those, only the NAFTA forerunner could be thought of a a positive plan or program.

The one difference between Cruz, and others fighting dim witch hunts, is that Ted is very careful, calculating, and processing impact on everyone of his political moves. He is the shrewdest politician since WJC (who I despise). I mean if they want to get him for going 4 mph over speed limit, or jaywalking, they may have a case. Otherwise, I’d be shocked if anything of substance is pinned on him.
