Elected officials addressed thousands during the People’s Mass at Fiesta Del Sol in honor of dreamers, immigrants and the 47,000 children held at detention centers across the nation.
WBBM’s Kimberly Easton reports a crowd of thousands listened intently to Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Senator Dick Durbin. Both Emanuel and Durbin assured the Latino community they will not turn their backs on children who are fleeing a dangerous situation.
“We are here today at Fiesta Del Sol. This is a Mass dedicated to the dreamers. The action that was taken by the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday was reprehensible. This idea of calling for the deportation of these young men and women is cruel,” Durbin said.
Durbin says more should be done to help children crossing the border into the U.S. on their own.
“These are young men and women who have come to the United States not by their own choice, who have lived here, they have lived in the United States and now they are asking for a chance to prove themselves.”
Emanuel said also told the crowd one or more sites that can hold up to at least 1,000 will be used to treat immigrant children fairly and humanely.
“Everyone of us are children, or grandchildren or great-grandchildren whose families at one place or another dreamed of a promise of America and the thousands of children on the border, who left the violence of Central America, we welcome them to the city of Chicago,” said Emanuel.
May they get everything they deserve.
The ‘Children’ immigrants consist of only about 15% of the current illegal alien invasion.
They already are getting things that DISABLED VETERANS don’t have access to, what more would you like them to have, Dick?!
Hey Dick! More needs to be done for NON-ILLEGAL ALIEN “children” in this country first. If you want to help the lawbreakers, you go right ahead and use your OWN MONEY!
Article doesn’t state how many illegal children the Princess Mayor or Durbin have taken into their homes as temporary foster parents .... less than one a good guess!
Say Dickie, how about YOU take in some of the illegals — feed, clothe and house them, pay for their education and medical care? I’m sure you have stolen enough money in your time in government to take care of quite a few of these poor “refugees.” Most of us have paid high taxes to fund the billions in foreign aid our government has squandered on the cesspools these illegals come from, plus all the donations we made to church missions and charities operating in these countries. We don’t have any more to give.

Wayne Rogers on FOX on Saturday said that any time the word “ILLEGAL” is uttered beginning a debate or argument, then there is nothing more to be said. I can’t quote him accurately but what he said was short and sweet. ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL and what can be said after that except but, but, but, but, but - PERIOD!!!!

It should be a requirement of anyone voting for such a bill and if the goon in the WH decides to go it alone without legislation, then all the spare rooms in the WH should be allocated to the “children” who have tattoos!!!
Isn’t this the clown that wants to always screw over our military? Interesting fellow, F the men and women who who put their life and limbs on the line in service of their country but waste American tax dollars on children who are and should be the responsibility of their own countries. Durbin must have a home or two, maybe he can lead by example by putting a few up in one of his homes. Pelosi, Reid and hey, even Jeb Bush since he thinks illegal immigration is an act of love, can do the same!

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

More needs to be done to keep illegal immigrants from coming to the U.S. and breeding future Democrats and bankrupting our nation, all intentionally by a president, his advisor, and supporters who want to payback the white man.

I heard it’s 12 % and that 300,000 are on their way to arrive sometime in September or October.
Dickbrain Durbin is widely known for putting party ahead of country. To Durbin, the Democrat Party trumps EVERYTHING.
