Military officers testified that there was no stand-down order that held back military assets that could have saved the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans killed at a diplomatic outpost and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya. Their testimony undercut the contention of Republican lawmakers.
The stand-down theory centers on a Special Operations teama detachment leader, a medic, a communications expert and a weapons operator with his foot in a castthat was stopped from flying from Tripoli to Benghazi after the attacks of Sept. 11-12, 2012, had ended. Instead, it was instructed to help protect and care for those being evacuated from Benghazi and from the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli.

Does military discipline include following an order to tell less than the whole truth (or to lie) under oath?
Just wondering, not implying anything.
The problem here is that these “officers” are now BARRY’S “officers”. I doubt they have much credibility.
Another LIE.
Apparently the truth told over a year ago was a LIE?
Which is it?
When does the revolution start?
Funny, the story was that there were no assets nearby.
Turns out there were.
Then we were told the assets were told not to intervene.
So somebody is lying.
And I’d say it’s the guys testifying that there was no stand down order.
‘Evacuation’? Pray tell, who was supporting an evacuation during the attack?
Has anyone asked about cross-border authority yet?
Are these officers saying that they made the decision to not send troops to protect American diplomatic personnel? If so, prepare for their courts martial.
Some of Obama’s hand-picked officers no doubt. Replacements for the old-school ones who wouldn’t play ball.
Nice touch: "What did you want us to do, send in an injured soldier??"
It’s been long enough...it’s about the usual amount of time after the action, the incident for the Leftist media to start the rewriting of history, to convince us all up is down, and down is up.
No order to stand down...perhaps that is correct as what happens when one does not answer the phone.
This is nothing more than the WH trying to undermine Trey Gowdy.
That is double talk testimony from Lt. Col. S.E. Gibson if AP quoted him correct. To paraphrase Lt. Col. S.E. Gibson’s testimony stating there was no stand down order but rather a remain in place order initiated. What is the difference between a stand down order and a remain in place order, Lt. Col. S.E. Gibson? Both orders require the same action or rather no action be taken which equals ‘stand down’
Ok, let’s say that there was no stand down order given...Then why were NO resources committed to assisting the Americans under attack that night in Benghazi? Come on generals, justify those stars on your shoulders...The cover-up continues...
How would these low level officers and enlisted even know of the existence of a stand-down order? They were ordered to prepare to protect and care for the evacuees from Benghazi.
If someone was to interview them and ask “Were you aware of any stand-down order?” and they would truthfully say “No”. In which case the AP could report that they said there was no stand-down order, not “they were unaware of one” but there “wasn’t one”.
Isn’t the art of propaganda grand?
And why was an admiral relieved of duty for actually trying to render assistance?
Not too long ago, I stated a similar sentiment on another thread and was told by a fellow FReeper that in no uncertain terms, the military swore an oath to follow the guidance of the civilian leadership, no questions asked.
I recalled that when I signed up, it was to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States...”, not some rogue administration.
You would have thought I’d tried to kick their dog....sheesh.
This particular team perhaps among many others, was ready to launch and was told "don't go".
What was it Hillary said?
