Happy 4th of July!
Here’s a poem I wrote some years ago, it has nothing to do with July 4th, however here goes.
Captain Heart
A lavender gown faded tattered
hung in the closet
a faint aroma of lavender
drifted from the old garment
She stood at midnight
moonlight beaming in
through the window
her silky silhouette tall, lean,
beauty, in lavender lace
Bone China face
hands of a fragile woman
opulent riches surround
her frame while she
celebrates the ceremony
meant for two
two glasses
lavender roses
dinner in chambers
midnight love
Moving with the grace
of a fragile butterfly
her movements
synchronized with
full moon waxing yellow glow
toward a shadowy figure
emerging from a black recess
the Captain of her heart
symphony of exquisite rhapsody
of love
candlelight and moonbeams
Captain of Her Heart
Soaring Feather

Hiiya Beachie! My most memorable July 4th happened in 1976, our Bicentenial. I was in the Army in Bamberg Germany and our unit was responsible for guard duty of our ammunition depot. So me and my fellow soldiers walked the perimeter of the depot, wishing we were back on base celebrating the 4th of July with the rest of our buddies. Hey, someone had to do it :-) How’s the mini vacation going?

We had rain, too....over 1/2”! I’m so happy. Took a short video. It’s on FB. I can’t transfer it when on my iPad.
No plans tomorrow. I have to work part of it and I think my MIL will be here sometimes this weekend.

The Order of the Day for July 4th at our house.
Quiet contemplation.
Walk the dogs.
Eat, drink, watch a race
Walk the dogs.
Eat, drink some more beer
The dogs walk me.
Yada yada yada
Wifey walks the dogs
Fireworks OOOooo....
Walk the dogs? What dogs?

God Bless all those who serve and served and support our troops and families!!!

Dependence Day
July 4, 2014
Read: John 15:1-13
In the US, the Fourth of July is a national holiday when outdoor grills are heated up; beaches are packed; and cities and towns have parades and fireworks displays, picnics, and patriotic celebrations. All of this is in remembrance of July 4, 1776, when the 13 American colonies declared their independence.
Independence appeals to all ages. It means freedom from the control, influence, support, and aid of others. So its not surprising that teenagers talk about gaining their independence. Many adults have the goal of being independently wealthy. And senior citizens want to maintain their independence. Whether anyone is ever truly independent is a discussion for another time and placebut it sounds good.
Craving political or personal independence is one thing; daring to pursue spiritual independence is problematic. What we need instead is a recognition and acceptance of our deep spiritual dependence. Jesus said, I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing (John 15:5).
Far from being self-reliant, we are totally and eternally dependent on the One who died to set us free. Every day is our dependence day.
I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
I need Thee, O I need Thee; every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee. Hawks/Lowry
Our greatest strength comes from dependence on our strong God.
There are two sides to the word picture of Jesus and His followers as a vine and branches. On the one side, His followers, the branches, are totally dependent on Him, the vine. But as the vine, He freely and generously supplies what we need to bear fruit.

Hanging around home far as I know. My daughter has the porch decorated with our Stars and Strips Bunting.
The unique event is the Humming Bird flies straight for the red strip of the Bunting.
