Evidently Kennedy is very troubled that this mandate/reg came from HHS/Sebelius and not a duly elected branch of government. I think he’s ‘on’ to something there .... [/s] although I’m very glad he’s troubled since there are lots of ‘regs’ being promulgated (EPA/HHS, etc,) to get what Obama/libs want done to transform America.
Does anyone know how or if this affects the Little Sisters of the Poor’s case?
Paraphrasing more from Justice Alito’s opinion: The dissent is concerned about the possibility of disputes among the owners of a privately held corporation about this coverage. State corporate law provides a ready means for resolving any conflicts by (for example) dictating how a corporation can establish its governing structure, and courts will turn to that structure and the underlying state law in resolving such disputes. -

Thank you Jesus. God bless the Greens.
I suspect that Hussien Obama will again bypass constitutional law and implement this on his own. John Boehner will respond by having a meeting to talk about Immigration reform.
These two decisions still make me feel like I’m trapped in the Alamo ... just sayin ...
Shouldn't it mean just that? This is the problem with these narrowly-defined decisions because now the Supreme Court taking upon itself to decide what is really, truly a religious belief and what is only sort of a religious belief? Hobby Lobby argued that requiring coverage for certain types of birth control violated their religious beliefs. The court has ruled, correctly in my opinion, that if corporations have the same First Amendment rights to free speech as individuals have then why shouldn't they have the same First Amendment rights to freedom of religion as individuals have? But that does come with a cost. Birth control is not the only problems some religions have with medicine as practiced in this country. Now they have to sue to get their First Amendment rights recognized as well.
“Where Do We Go from Here?”
Pitchforks, torches, tar, feathers. I know this decisions is favorable, but there’s no reason why we should be sitting on pins and needles waiting to see which liberty Kennedy thinks we should have.
The butthurt on MSNBC is heartwarmingly epic.
So am I reading what this means correctly: So only churches and closely-held private corporations have religious freedom. Ordinary Americans and other corporations do not?
Quick! Get a bigger hammer!! Humpty Dumpty’s shell is cracking!!!
My fellow conservative FReepers,
The U.S. Supreme Court made history today. I believe that this is the first time that a majority of the court has agreed with a plaintiffs argument that LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION!
This is a MAJOR DEFEAT for the abortion industry and liberals who have tried to argue that life only begins at birth.
