House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA) demanded a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS over its targeting of conservative groups and the disappearance of emails from key officials.
Issa declared that IRS Commissioner John Koskinen is “not the ideal person, not even an appropriate person” to oversee the investigation into the IRS’ conducts, and that this case calls for a true, special, independent prosecutor who has the ability to issue warrants, to seize materials, to safeguard documents and other information before it goes away and get to the truth.”
He added that a special prosecutor will almost certainly not be named by President Barack Obama or Attorney General Eric Holder.
Issa added that the revelation that Lois Lerner improperly gave the personal information of donors to the Justice Department made it clear that her attorney should “take back that statement she made, that perjured statement that she broke no laws, she broke no regulations.” He concluded, “of course she broke laws and of course she broke regulations and we need to hold her accountable.”
Even though he said that Lerner was “biased,” “had an agenda,” and “broke laws,” Issa stated that he “absolutely” would be willing to give Lerner immunity “if she would deliver to us the explanation of who she worked with in this conspiracy.”

Forget about it.
1. The emails are gone. The reason it took so long say that the emails were deleted is that the folks deleting the emails were thorough and it took time.
2. With no emails, there is no evidence. Despite the fact there is proof that evidence was destroyed, the lack of evidence makes it impossible to prosecute Lerner or go after her superiors.
3. The people responsible for maintaining and preserving those email will not be prosecuted because there is no “proof” of criminal intent. (Proof of criminal intent is required during Democrat Administrations, but not during ‘Pubbie Administrations where simply forgetting something can land you in jail.)
If she does lie, the immunity goes away.
I would happily see her get immunity and have her testify. She'd be the government version of Sammy the Bull, and would do for the IRS (and the government) what he did for the Gambino crime family and the Mafia.
I remember the case of the woman using a false name email to conduct secret government business, and I think she was with the EPA, but I would not doubt that Lerner did something similar.
Lerner did use a personal computer, at least it seems that Gowdy knows so. In the second part of the hearing on Tuesday Gowdy questions O’Connor around 31:00 - 36:00. At the very end he asks O’Connor whether Lerner used a personal computer, and the “I know nuthin” liar mumbles some inanity. Gowdy shoots back: “She did.” At which point his 5 minutes were up.

Months ago I recall Gowdy saying that a good prosecutor will not ask a question for which he did not already know the correct answer. Gowdy shot that “She did!” at her to let her know that she is in deep trouble. I think they have proof that O’Connor is part of the cover up.

Only chance would be a Palin led third party. From most replies I have seen so far on FR is : Can’t do that! NOOO! Third party would mean the Democrats would not be stopped. Need Republicans to save the Supreme Court..Like we were saved from the wise latina...and Roberts hasn’t betrayed us... THEY ARE NOT BEING STOPPED NOW AND THE GOP IS KILLING THE TEA PARTY!
We have nothing left to lose by going third party. It is the only chance to restore America without bullets and I fear it is too late for even that.

While she may not end up with any jail time (although I hope otherwise), I'll bet that arrogant smirk would be wiped from her face were she to lose her cushy retirement income unless she cooperates fully. As it stands now, she has nothing to lose by just keeping her trap shut and riding off into the sunset.
