SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs won their fifth NBA championship, beating the Miami Heat 104-87 on Sunday night to win the series in five games.
Kawhi Leonard had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who added this title to the ones they won in 1999, 2003, '05 and '07. They nearly had another last year, but couldn't hold off the Heat and lost in seven games.
The rematch was no match at all.
San Antonio rebounded from an early 16-point deficit by outscoring the Heat 37-13 from the start of the second quarter to midway in the third.

F’m. Don’t like ‘em never did. Not even when he was a pretentious High School kid in Akron.
People have horrible things happen to them all the time. Might as well be people I don’t like.
One reason the Heat lost is because they had no bench players. If Melo signs, they’ll have even less of a bench.
Spurs won because they had a great bench, and a great starting lineup.
I beg your pardon!! The only “riots” in Boston were college students from out of state looking for a reason to party when the Red Sox finally won in 2004 And the Zoo Massers (also lot of out of State) when the Patriots won the Superbowl.
Celtic fans are enthusiastic but not frightful!
Spurs also have a lot better coaching.
Everyone expected Miami to cruise to a three-peat, but the Spurs obviously planned for them brilliantly. That’s a smart organization.

YEAH! From Cleveburg!
Really? Would you say that to him in person? No? Then don’t say it here.
Thunder Fanatic
I lived close to San Antonio for many years, so I have to kind of pull for the Spurs. It was bad enough I had to endure the Kings beating my Blackhawks this year. I don't want to go through that experience again, but at least the Hawks won it last year, and they will new back :-)
NOT THREE!!
will be back
At least not by Spurs fans. Heat fans might be pissed that their team lost, though.
We shoot rioters in Texas and a significant portion of the state has CCW, while another significant portion has firearms in their vehicles ‘just in case.’
Chance of riot? Small. Very small.
Now, in Miami.... that could be another story.
They’re disappointed, for sure, but no trouble yet that I can see. Local news is on now. All quiet.
I think Heat fans knew it was inevitable for a couple of days, so it already sunk in even before tonight’s game.
The night is early yet in Miami. Still, they’re not anywhere near as likely to riot there as Los Angeles or Sacramento, etc., etc.5
Those young ladies look sauced.
Even the players seemed resigned to it in the interviews over the past couple of days. It was kind of weird.
LeBron James got his start playing high school basketball about 15 miles north of me, in Akron, Ohio. I tolerated his jump from Cleveland to Miami, but his mouth has gotten the best of him. His tirades against the Clippers owner for a ‘nothing’ comment that should have been private made him persona non grata in my world. He showed himself a ‘racist’ in the same way that Barry-O and Holder are racists. He has continued to shoot off his mouth about too many things. Maybe he can tuck his tail between his legs and move ‘regressively’ to the man he used to be. I am glad the Heat lost. I don’t care two hoots about the Spurs.
