Between 80 and 90 administration staffers knew about the trade of five Taliban leaders for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl even though Congress was kept in the dark, CNN reports, and members of both parties are unhappy about it.
During a classified briefing to the entire House of Representatives late Monday afternoon, White House officials said that up to 90 people had prior knowledge of the trade.
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon called that news "disturbing," partly because of the high number who knew and partly because the White House has been saying it didn't inform Congress until after the swap was made because it feared Bergdahl's life might be in danger if there had been a leak.
McKeon, a California Republican, told CNN he wants to get an exact number of those who knew and their names.
"My question to them was, if you don't know who knew, then how could you if a leak had happened and the sergeant had been killed how could you go back and find out who leaked?" McKeon said.

When the Speaker of the House is completely apathetic to the lawlessness of the Exexcutive branch, what difference does it make?
Why doesn’t President Obama issue an executive order disbanding Congress?
would you be very surprised if that is already on the drawing board ?
LOL. This proves they did not care about leaks (as if anyone needed convincing). If poor Bismillah Bergdahl was in such danger, they would not have told more than 90 WH staffers.
I’ll bet that that “Dude, that was over two years ago” guy who started as Obama’s van driver and is now the National Security Council spokesman is one of them.
sounds about right
Impeachment is now necessary, it would appear, to save the republic from disaster. This episode reveals the full extent of the callous disregard of the president for both the spirit and the word of the law in matters that are too important to brush aside. One fears that the situation can only get much worse if the administration learns that it can get away with this kind of behaviour.
I tell where this all started in terms of attitude...when they refused to sit down and do regular year-to-year budgets. That was the point where the White House assumed that Congress had no value, and refused to let them be part of the process. Once the barriers went up last year at the national parks...it should have been a sign of bad things to come.
It is very sad that we are at this point. Bite-me wouldn't be much better but would be a change.
I know our founding Fathers did not intend for this. . . .
McKeon: GO AFTER OBAMA....quit saying you are DISTURBED!!
I can’t even tell you how angry this administration makes me just thinking about all the damage done to this country. The hubris. The lawlessness. Obama spits on all law abiding citizens. He serves us garbage with a smile.
CONgress didn’t know (and now that they know they still don’t react)? DISMANTLE that useless collective of paycheck collecting CONmen.
Maybe he could write a strongly worded letter. That always seems to work. /s
“White House: 90 in Administration Knew of Bergdahl Deal”
Obama would have been number 91, but that damn newspaper delivery boy threw the newspaper up on the roof of the white house where it couldnt be reached.
1. Oust Boehner.
2. Install West.
3, Impeach Obama.
This whole episode is so amateurish, so mickey-mouse, so lacking-in-any-forethinking, you almost wonder if it was cooked up by Valerie, Michelle, and Mother Robinson over a few late-night vodka shots.
“We didn’t have time to tell 10 members of a Congressional Committee what we were planning, just 90 people in the White House ..... it was an emergency, Bowe’s life was in danger, blah, blah blah ...”
