WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) White House aides are accusing soldiers who served with Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl are swift boating him following his release over the weekend after five years in captivity.
NBC News Chuck Todd reported Monday that the White House did not expect this sort of vitriolic backlash exchanging five high-level Taliban members held at Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl, who left his Army post in 2009 in Afghanistan and was subsequently taken captive.
They did not expect this backlash on Bergdahl himself, Todd reported on NBCs Today. Ive had a few aides describe it to me as we didnt know that they were going to swift boat Bergdahl. And thats a reference to that political fight back in 2004 over John Kerrys military service.

If they can’t kill vets they’ll attack the soldiers themselves.
They keep using that word.....I do not think it means what they think it means.
What percentage of the public will believe that these soldiers are maligning the “last POW”, versus the administration bashing these soldiers?
Todd needs to identify the “WH aide” or aides who made these statements so they can be promptly fired.
They don’t seem to realize that “swift boating” = “attacking with the truth”.
I am surprised a leftist shill would bring up the SBVT. I would think the mind numbed sheep the leftist play to wouldn’t remember who the SBVT are as they were in the news prior to last weeks Dancing With the Stars. Anyone who does remember the Swiftboat Vets would know their claims proved true.
Swift boating?
You mean telling the truth about a scumbag who happens to be “in favor” with the Left?
The truth comes out.
Stupid little spoiled children run this country by fiat from the executive office. The media enjoys it.
Typical of 0bama and his lapdog advisers and administration, they hate the military.
The truth has blown Obama’s love boat out of the water, and he and his bosses are livid.
> They keep using that word.....I do not think it means what they
> think it means.
It means whatever they want it to mean. They’re the Left. They can deconstruct and reconstruct language, or pretty much anything, to mean whatever they want.
In this case, their use of “Swiftboat” is a euphemism for exaggerations and outright lies.
The low info voter will sop it up like a sponge, because in the remote recesses of their memory, they will remember how mean the Swiftboat brethren were to JFnKerry.
You can bet your ass Bowe is getting “Debriefed” in Germany and will tell his “Story” upon his return.
Anyone that contradicts the fabricated lies put out by the White House is "the" problem.
Kerry got "Swift Boated" because he was a self-promoting liar. The problem was Kerry, not the veterans.
In Berdahl's case, it's Bergdahl's conduct that is in question, not the people that question his conduct.
“Swiftboating” is when the people someone serves with tells the truth about them. The charge is correct. The media's perception of the meaning and implications of that charge is flawed.

The 60’s age now running most of the country are nothing but adult age children.
Sooo...They’re saying things that are obviously true and provable? Because that’s what happened to Kerry.
It's still an unfortunate choice of words because there were an awful lot of people who believed the Swift Boat Vets, even though in the end they voted for Kerry out of some union or other loyalty. On the other hand, I know several guys who hadn't voted in years, and haven't voted since, who got off their asses just to vote against the traitorous bastard. And I live in a very liberal part of the country (Philly area).
Swiftboating = The truth about a Marxist
Pray America wakes up
