Bergdahl Never Listed By Pentagon As Prisoner Of War

In his five years of captivity, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was never listed by the Pentagon as a prisoner of war.

Nor has the U.S. applied that term to any of its Taliban prisoners — including the five senior Taliban figures who were released last weekend from detention at the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in exchange for Bergdahl’s freedom.

Normally, POWs get promoted on schedule. If he was not promoted during his absence indicates the Army knew he was a deserter.

It's hard to list anyone as a POW when you're waging a military campaign known as a "War on Terror." "Terror" never captures soldiers.

The notion of a POW is predicated on the understanding that they were involved in a military campaign in a formal state of war between two sovereign countries. This was never the case in Afghanistan. Nor was it the case in Iraq, for that matter.

That's why these al-Qaeda guys captured in Iraq and Afghanistan had to be sent to places like Guantanamo and those mysterious "black ops" camps in Eastern Europe -- because they had no legal status as POWs and the U.S. government has never had a clue about what the hell to do with them.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein said Tuesday that the White House told her that it was on “oversight” that Congress didn’t receive the required notification about the prisoner exchange deal that secured the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Mrs. Feinstein, California Democrat, said the excuse came from Tony Blinken, President Obama’s deputy national security adviser. “Tony Blinken called last night and said that it was an oversight or something to that effect. So I accept that,” she told reporters at the Capitol.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid received a heads-up on the deal to transfer Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for the five Taliban officials detained in Guantanamo Bay — but it’s not clear who else did. In a brief interview, Reid said the White House contacted him ahead of the swap — but not by much. “It must have been either the day before or the day of. I don’t remember for sure,” Reid said.

Within days of his disappearance, says Buetow, teams monitoring radio chatter and cell phone communications intercepted an alarming message: The American is in Yahya Khel (a village two miles away). He's looking for someone who speaks English so he can talk to the Taliban.

A Pentagon investigation in 2010 concluded that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his unit prior to his capture by the Taliban the year before, a finding that led the military to curb any high-risk rescue plans, the Associated Press reported

When this Bergdahl character WENT AWOL and SHOULD have been declared a DESERTER from the gitgo, he left behind emails and notes saying he was “disgusted” with the United States and talked about RENOUNCING HIS CITIZENSHIP. (During my 4 years in the USAF in the Vietnam era, I wasn’t all that thrilled about how the government was mishandling a war that was getting so many of our folks unnecessarily KIA but never once thought about doing what THIS clown did!)

Despite obozo’s desire to keep all this hush-hush, MORE will come out as his former comrades defy orders to shut up and do speak out.

After 5 years with the Taliban, just how many IEDs and other “devices” did they teach him how to construct?
