The Democrats majority in the Senate is on the line this election season, and if Republicans take back control, the GOP will need to decide on new rules for the new Congress in the upper chamber. Some Republican members are willing to go back to way things were before Harry Reid took the gavel.
In the wake of the recent controversial nomination of Judge David Barron, author of the memo which gave a legal basis to kill Americans abroad with drones, to the first U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Republicans became apoplectic after getting word that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid threatened to change the filibuster rules on federal nominees again to make the process favor the majority further. Don Stewart, spokesman for Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, told Breitbart News on Wednesday that McConnell has already made it clear that, should the Republicans take back the Senate, decisions on rules will be made among conference members.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), known for his 13-hour filibuster last March against CIA Director John Brennan, filibustered Barron on Wednesday, but as a result of Reids recent

No wonder why libs laugh at the idiots who run the GOP
Fools. Will they do this as they are “reaching across the aisle” to the degenerate LIBs or before? Haven’t these GOPe losers learned anything? Apparently not.
The Democrats decided to change the rules. If they lose the Senate, then they need to live with the consequences of the other party using the same simple majority to ram things through.
“F” troop strikes again. It would be proper to win the Senate first, of course. It would also be proper to show the Dems what a Senate, without ANY filibuster, looks like and feels like.
Republicans don’t want to make changes. Republican Party MO is to do nothing, complain and blame the other guys.
GOP waxing nostalgic and stupid once again as always —
Is it really so surprising? We have people right here on FR every single day that demand that we march to the polls come November and elect the very people that would do this.
“Those” people in DC only can do the things they do to destroy America because of the people here and sites everywhere giving them the power to do it. So in fact, we DO have the government we very much deserve. No, not conservatives, but everyone else. Simple math folks. If you willfully vote for closeted Democrats, expect them to come out of that closet when it hurts you most.
Actually, it’s probably because the eGOP’s know that if the RATs lose control in the November elections they will reinstate the Filibuster before they have to give up control of the Senate in January.
I made this point before, I’ll make it again. If Obama is in power, and the Republicans run the Senate (or if they don’t), I LIKE THE FILIBUSTER, as it forces at least some conservative Republicans to support anything or anyone going through the Senate.
In other words, with a filibuster, 41 votes can block one of Obama nut-jobs from getting a cabinet post, or getting on a court - without the filibuster 51 votes are needed to block. 41 votes means that all of the RINOs can side with the Democrats, and yet still NOTHING gets through if the conservatives hold together, and that includes gun control, global warming, nothing.
When, and if, a Republican becomes president, then we should end the filibuster, for sure.
I challenge ANYONE to coherently explain to us all why both the parties (establishment) are not just one in the same. The ONLY solution is now to go third.
As Admiral Farragut proclaimed upon entering Mobile Bay; “Damn the torpedoes!” said Farragut, “Four bells. Captain Drayton, go ahead! Jouett, full speed!”
In jolly ole England, the PKIP just proved that principles win over party.
The GOP-E has never learned that there is no education in the second kick of the rat donkey.
Nonsense. That was accomplished 101 years ago. Popularly elected, six year reps mean 5.5 years of unaccountability.
But hey, just keep voting like always. That'll change everything. The return of republican freedom is just around the corner.
Well, to put those amoral leftists back in power would indeed be the end.
If our very freedom and property depends on the outcome of an election or two, do we live in a constitutional republic?
I’d let the Dems suffer for at least the first term of a Republican presidency. THEN go back to the way it was.
Bring it back as long as Obama is in the White house. They can stop nutty judges easier. Get rid of it again if a Republican wins in 2016.
Fixed it!
For the most part, the apparent "conflicts" in Congress have as much reality as a scripted pro-wrestling battle.
