Hybrid Cadillac inventory sits on dealer lots
MarketWatch ^ | May 23, 2014 | By Jay Ramey

The Cadillac ELR has been on sale for just five months, but General Motors is now offering dealers a $5,000 incentive to offer test drives in the Chevrolet Volt-based plug-in hybrid. To receive the incentive, dealers have until June 2 to designate ELRs in their current inventory as test vehicles, after which each test car has to log a minimum of 750 test-drive miles.

The incentives could be because 1,700 ELR coupes remained unsold in dealer inventories at the end of April. At current sales rates, that’s a 725-day supply, which is almost exactly two years’ worth of cars.

If it doesn’t look like a hybrid, libs won’t buy it.

Because the libtards want something like the Prius. Just like the South Park episode, they want a smug symbol and Cadi’s doesn’t give the impression.

Informative post. Thank you. Then it is followed up by the at least equally snooty “N’est pas?”. Then the tagline adds icing to the cake! Thanks!!

I bet good money that if you took an original '68 Mustang, back before catalytic converters and all the other pollution controls were slapped on cars, and compared it with an electric car over their entire lives -- I mean, from the materials being pulled out of the ground, through its construction, during its operation, to what is left behind to rot in a junkyard -- you'd find the old Mustang far, far less environmentally damaging than the electric car.

IIRC, the Mustang also sold a million copies in the '65-'66 period. Right now, GM is on track to hit that number of Volts (and Cadillac clones) in around seven hundred years. There will still be classic Mustangs running long after the last Volt bursts into flames.

Based on longevity alone, the Mustang wins the environmental impact contest.

I’ll never buy another UAW made car. They can get the Democrats to steal my tax money, but they won’t get a penny from me willingly.

You must have had really weird roller skates growing up.

This is what a roller skate looks like:

Add in the fact that it’s spelled “n’est-ce pas.”

“Cadillac estimates it can go up to 37 miles on battery power alone, and while that’s one less mile than the Volt, the ELR is a fair bit quicker, as Cadillac was able to get more power out of the car’s electric-drive motor.”
-Edmunds

One would have to not care at all about range to buy that Caddy over the Tesla.

I’m going to visit my Caddy dealer and offer to put that 750 miles on each of them so they get cashback from GM. I do about 750 miles a week.

The same division of GM that produced the 4-5—8 engine. That flopped, also.

For that kind of money, I could get a Sports Chassis semi-hauler. Or a Dodge Ram & have enough $$$ left over to have a once- in -a-lifetime vacation.

To reduce a pic, just put "width = xx%" (xx=percent of screen) after the image location and before the end ">" example: < IMG SRC="http://media.caranddriver.com/images/13q3/528962/2014-honda-crosstour-photo-538132-s-1280x782.jpg" width =20%>

That’s an ugly car.

I had a ‘68 VW, bare bones on ameneties. Did everything I wanted. After a sideswipe by a bus, I bought a new ‘72 Super Beetle with the larger engine and a/c. Fantastic car, and I wouldn’t mind having one like it now. ....I’m 71 and have a 13 y/o Impala LS with barely over 18k miles on it. It’s a great car, but I don’t need such a large car and would enjoy the smaller VW of my past. .....Hybrid autos suck and just suck in $$$ from the enviro brain washed crowd.

Whatever possessed GM to rebrand a Volt with the Cadillac insignia? Do they really think the Prius owners will switch? That’s just stupid.

You mean putting lipstick on a pig doesn't work?
