WASHINGTON President Barack Obama says the U.S. has deployed 80 military personnel to Chad to help located more than 200 girls kidnapped in Nigeria.

And a Marine still sits in a Mexican jail.
Aren’t there any armed adults (males and females) in Nigeria? Don’t they have an army? Where are the parents? If the US is sending people in any capacity is the Nigerian government paying for it with all their oil money?
Actually there are some very good private contractors in South Africa who have been very effective in that corner of the continent.
Some years ago Executive Outcomes went in with 250 men and seized control of Sierra Leone. The UN stepped in and negotiated a “peace” with the rebels and government while blocking payment of EO (EO was going to be paid in raw diamonds and the UN threw a tantrum over it)
Please don’t fall for the White House meme that this is the fault of the Nigerian gov’t and let the Broko H. clowns off of the hook.
“How many did he send to Mexico to get one of our Marines out of prison?”
My thoughts exactly. Or how many did he send to get the minister out of the Iranian prison?
The government of Nigeria is a mess too. Its just a fact borne out that the Nigerian first lady ordered protesters arrested. (despite not having the official power to do so)
Of course we can blame the Obama administration. The US chose not to put the BokoHoron monsters on the terror group list. When the first calls to intervene came out, Kerry's response was they needed the permission of the Nigerian government. Besides that, we have to wonder if their weapons are coming from all of the stuff we've given rebels in northern Africa, or from Libya's stash that hasn't been secured.
probably Rambo spec ops guys, camel riding with the Tuaregs
yee haw
(um, this is stupid, prolly those “girls” are muslim wives by now and half of them preggers)
As I understand it the school was guarded but not well. 2 or 3 military guards who were easily taken out by superior numbers.
That said the Nigerian government is rife with corruption.
So when are you signing up.....?
Love to. Alas....I retired after 24 years. Those guys are doing a great thing. God Bless all 80.
Thank you for your service..
I bit surprised you are so eager to send our troops into harms way...
Considering this has almost zero national security ramifications and more of a political ploy to make Obama look like a real CINC instead of a incompetent community organizer...
HARMS WAY?
They are window dressing
I understand but this is different. If we can save these young girls, it MIGHT change some of the way we are looked at by some in Africa. I am not saying “kissing ass” or anything, but the girls will remember us.
I hope so...
“Oh, Daddy - may I scream?”
