Gowdy Names Capitol Hill Veteran to Benghazi Probe (Free Republic mentioned)

To lead the Republican majority staff, Gowdy selected Philip Kiko, a key aide to Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., when the latter served as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and more recently a registered lobbyist for the Smith-Free Group, a K Street lobbying firm with a diverse roster of clients.

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, swiftly welcomed Gowdy’s choice, calling Kiko “a man of unquestioned integrity with a record of distinguished service” in and out of Congress...

However, emails obtained by Fox News show that some conservatives are unhappy with Kiko’s appointment, chiefly because of his recent lobbying activities. Emails circulating among a large group of conservative lawyers and former Capitol Hill staffers late Thursday, after Kiko’s selection became known, included sharp criticism of Kiko for having represented the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (LCCHR), among other clients.

In response to the criticism, Kiko told Fox News late Friday, "I understand my job is to find the facts through a fair process."

Conservative activist Barbara Ledeen, a former top aide at the Senate Republican Conference, kicked off the email thread with an alert about Kiko’s selection and links to websites showing that the former general counsel to the House Judiciary Committee had lobbied for ACLU and LCCHR.

The links steered readers to, among other websites, freerepublic.com, a conservative chat room, where some writers had previously expressed displeasure with Kiko’s lobbying activities, including a reference to him as “a self-described conservative.” One writer reminded readers that LCCHR lists among its member organizations ACLU, People for the American Way, the Service Employees International Union, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

It really saddens my heart that when good men try to do something that they get knocked down. It seems that when good men stand around and do nothing evil thrives. It sure makes sense that the democrats sure hate God and America. It bothers me that the dems take advantage of money, power, prestige and fame if that's what you would call it, and then of course they like nice homes, vehicles, and even maybe have good wives, but in the real shame of it all, those darn dems want to murder babies by abortions, cheat on their wives, go against Gods principle of marriage, not realizing that God condemns them to damnation unless they change there hearts by coming to accept Jesus as their savior, but as we are seeing lately the democrats as well as some republicans are selling out America so that the devil can have there souls for all the riches of this world which isn't worth losing their soul over.

I have a good friend who was a democrat and we are the best of friends and now my buddy like me we have turned our backs on both parties because we are both fed up with the politics of destruction. I prayed that God would change my friend and after nine years God turned him around. All the praise and Glory goes to God.

I pray for Tray Gowdy to withstand the heat of the enemy and that God will show Tray how to unveil the truth so that justice will prevail for our four heroes who were lied about by Obomza and Hildewitch who says "What difference does it make", and lied to all veterans and Americans while being at those poor men coffins.

So, freepers, lets pray that Gods will be done and truth will give the families peace, even though peace won't be given because of this transparent lying administration.

God Bless all who pray for the truth and for justice to be given to the guilty of these four men deaths. Let their deaths not be in vain!

I served in two branches of the services and they were the Army and Coast Guards. As a vet, I'm ashamed of our president and his lying government, and to some extent even President Bush, but Bush would not have left these four heroes behind. I don't want to offend Bush fans, but God has proven to me time and time again that man cannot be trusted for all have fallen short of the glory of God.

Whoa...uh...Kiko is tight with the SPLC...??!?!?!
