To lead the Republican majority staff, Gowdy selected Philip Kiko, a key aide to Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., when the latter served as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and more recently a registered lobbyist for the Smith-Free Group, a K Street lobbying firm with a diverse roster of clients.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, swiftly welcomed Gowdys choice, calling Kiko a man of unquestioned integrity with a record of distinguished service in and out of Congress...

However, emails obtained by Fox News show that some conservatives are unhappy with Kikos appointment, chiefly because of his recent lobbying activities. Emails circulating among a large group of conservative lawyers and former Capitol Hill staffers late Thursday, after Kikos selection became known, included sharp criticism of Kiko for having represented the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (LCCHR), among other clients.
In response to the criticism, Kiko told Fox News late Friday, "I understand my job is to find the facts through a fair process."
Conservative activist Barbara Ledeen, a former top aide at the Senate Republican Conference, kicked off the email thread with an alert about Kikos selection and links to websites showing that the former general counsel to the House Judiciary Committee had lobbied for ACLU and LCCHR.
The links steered readers to, among other websites, freerepublic.com, a conservative chat room, where some writers had previously expressed displeasure with Kikos lobbying activities, including a reference to him as a self-described conservative. One writer reminded readers that LCCHR lists among its member organizations ACLU, People for the American Way, the Service Employees International Union, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

I FREAKING LOVE TREY...!!!!
Whoa...uh...Kiko is tight with the SPLC...??!?!?!
(insert here screeching tires + fender collision sound effect)
It’s going to be hard for the libs.
I like it like that.
the liberals are calling this a witch hunt. I sure hope that we come up with solid evidence of wrong doing, to prove the liberals and people like Chris Mathews wrong.
Personally, I think we will, this just makes it a little
harder for the libs to criticize. Not like it would stop
them mind you but their hypocracy will be in full view.
And Lanny Davis is going to stand outside the door and hold his breath until Mom makes him a peanut butter sammich.
And, speaking of ‘Lanny the Louse’ has anybody heard of
a conservative group that plans to provide an informational
booth outside of the Select Committee venue to counter
his lies?
When did we elect Lanny Davis so that he gets to set up office in a government building?
Want on or off this ping list of 50+ (and growing) FReepers? Just drop me a FReep mail.
Isn’t Lanny Davis one of Sean Hannity’s 100,000 “good friends”?
Great choice, no way to sell even the most obsequious media shill on any smears of the choice. Thanks kristinn.
“Kiko told Fox News late Friday, “I understand my job is to find the facts through a fair process.”
The further to the left you are, the less true that is.
I just wonder if your thinking is substantially impaired by leftist dogma.
.............I agree but I’m so happy to have Gowdy in charge that I’m gonna trust him on this one.
I freely admit that “trusting” usually gets me cut off at the knees!

Kiko told Fox News late Friday, I understand my job is to find the facts through a fair process.
