Connecticut lawmakers voted to ban chocolate milk from school lunchrooms statewide as they wrapped up their legislative session Wednesday, in a move that critics warned could change kids' lunchtime habits for the worse.
The legislation, which next heads to Gov. Malloy's desk, makes revisions to the education statutes in order to comply with new federal school lunch standards on sodium, which is found in chocolate milk.

Geez, here we go. Can’t wait to see the comments on this.
I hear that kids don’t like these new lunch standards. What are we going to do, shove it down their throats?
A blatant racis’ act just because of the color of it’s skim.
Keep the god damn government away from our kids and out of our schools. Local, parental control only on school boards - please!
Ya, good point. We need chocolate in the schools.
As Mayor Nagin said, New Orleans would be a chocolate city again.
Why was Nagin never called to task over that comment? Can you imagine the mayor of Boise or Billings saying he wanted his city to be a vanilla city????
Most of the lunches will end up dumped in the scrap barrels as they file out of the lunchroom.
If it does not end up as ammunition in a food fight.
I guess that is where the phrase “Eat it or wear it!” came from.
Because everybody knows chocolate milk is RACIST!!!!!
Or the mayor of San Diego saying he wanted it to be a taco city? :>}
As I understand, a few school districts have pulled out of the federal school lunch program, which means that they aren’t bound by their guidelines anymore. That’s good to see those districts exercising their right of local control over what happens in their schools.
Good to remember that local boards of education control public education around the country, not bureaucrats in Washington, DC. In many places, these boards of education are elected by the people. Classic local control in such cases, where we the people vote to put these officials in their jobs.
States....stand up!!!
Cardboard and water are about all that fit the new standards. No fat, no sodium, high fiber....what’s not to like????
And no, kids - chocolate cardboard will not be allowed.
I heard some school was going to set up cameras by the trash cans, so they could document how much food was being thrown away.
Of course, they indicated that they would not identify individual students who threw away food with such cameras.
Just what we need, kids getting sent to the principal’s office for not eating what Michelle Obama wants them to eat.
That’s obviously racist since chocolate milk is dark skin..I see they won’t be banning the white milk..racist punks
“education statutes in order to comply with new federal school lunch standards on sodium, which is found in chocolate milk.”
Comrad, we have our ways to make you understand we are in charge in our liberal utopia.
Give me a brake, now they are banning chocolate milk? WTF, I think it is past midnight on the count down for Rev II to begin.
Isn’t it segregation to ban chocolate milk?
Obviously they had to step in to deal with the injustice of "White milk parading around in blackface"...
