Church officials say they will combat evil by hosting a positive worship service to counter a Harvard groups Satanic mass planned for Monday evening. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston will host a Eucharistic procession from MIT to a nearby church for an hour of prayer, The Boston Globe reports. The religious procession will end up at St. Pauls Parish in Harvard Square, just a 10-minutes walk from the Queens Head Pub in Memorial Hall the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is set to hold a black mass. A black mass is a ritual performed as a parody of the Roman Catholic Mass. In an official statement, the Archdiocese said it fears that people who partake in the ceremony are underestimating the power of Satan. Club members say that they are holding the service for educational purposes, but church officials say that the service is offensive.

Looking at that outburst from the FEMENs, makes me think about Satanic possession!
Send the muslim student association the agenda, which will of course include burning a bible and a koran. That'll get some action.
If it’s not a consecrated host it’s not a black mass.
Auurrrrgggh! Disgraceful!!!!
he Cultural Studies Club, is hosting a series of eventsincluding a Shinto tea ceremony, a Shaker exhibition, and a Buddhist presentation on meditationas part of a student-led effort to explore different cultures.
So why don't they hold a real mass? Morons.
They are not using a consecrated host, at least by every report from this group of night school students.
1) My understanding is that it is not a Satanic/ Black mass with out the defilement of a consecrated host.
2) There was nothing in this article stating that they did not intend to use a consecrated host.
3) The only other article I was pinged to stated that they were using a consecrated host.
4) As far as "paying attention", I am sorry if my entire life does not revolve around reading every single article posted on FR. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Matthew 5 might be a good place to take a few deep breaths. Much in the Bible to calm us - He wins and Satan loses and we humans don’t win the battle.
The pro-Satan Black Mass folks are also doing the work of this muslim leader in Great Britain.
“If its not a consecrated host its not a black mass.”
Exactly so. They're going through the text of it, with how much rubrics & all, I don't really know. But it is an ersatz event.
I don't know whether or not that was the original plan of this “student group” (and I have deep suspicions about this “student group”). I think they may have endeavored to perform actual sacrilege with the Real Thing.
That is what they first said they were going to do. But within a few hours of the initial statement, it changed. I wonder what happened out of sight between the administration and the leaders of this “student group,” whether they were told something to persuade them not to do it for real.
So, what we have is a group of night school students renting out the campus bar for a private event to pretend at, to “re-enact” a “black mass.”

Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Yes, they will be cursed, and sin hurts innocent people.
Your apologies noted and accepted.
;-)
More seriously, though, the reporting on this event has been atrocious. Sensationalistic in the extreme, with heavy bias against all the usual suspects. Reactions have ranged from irrational to positively insane.
That said, it's still a terrible thing that these “students” are doing. It's clearly not at the same level if they were to plan to use a consecrated host, that would be infinitely worse, but it's still pretty damned ugly stuff.
I gotta say, though, the folks on the ground are acting in an exemplary manner. When the Catholic students discovered this, they first endeavored to clarify what exactly was to take place (they, too, at first, believed this would be a real “black mass,” but soon discerned that wasn't the case), they met and talked to each other, they talked to their chaplains, and all together developed a consensus to meet this terrible thing with prayer.
I know that even my son's non-Catholic student friends are in sympathy with us, and view this event by the night school students with opprobrium. Of course, students of the College seldom need more than a nudge to think ill of the night school students, LOL.

So says the Infallible Magisterium of MGIST.
Yeah, 'cause Satanists wouldn't lie about something like that...< /sarc>
Where has this been reported?
I could not sleep last night so I perused everything back to May 7th here on FR. everything I read said they intended to use a consecrated host. There were two comments that said they were not planning on using one. One comment was from you yesterday and one from another Freeper on the 9th. Even the article you posted said they intended to use one.
Do you have a link to a reliable source? I am not saying you are wrong, but I want to see it for myself.
Over the past few days, there have been any number of reports updating the original news.
I initially came across this when my son took a picture of one of the posters put up on Harvard's campus proclaiming this bit of nonsense, and he put it up on his Facebook page. Googling led to some comments by a deacon who blogs, which led to this site:
http://www.womenofgrace.com/blog/?p=29977
The original blog item at this site said that someone from the organization said that the group would be using a consecrated host. From there, the “news” spread far and wide.
A few hours later, the blog was updated with what you will see when you now go to the blog. It has been reported elsewhere, but I'm not going to bother to try to hunt down pages that may or may not have been altered within the last 72 hours.
As an example, Harvard has had three different responses. The first basically said, we (Harvard) aren't involved in this. This is an independent student group doing its own thing. The second was a bit stronger, and if I recall correctly, was clear that no consecrated host would be used. However, both previous versions are no longer readily available. The “operative” statement, the second update, is at this link. At least until the third update is released, LOL:
I will quote a small part:
“To that end, the Harvard Extension School has worked with the clubs student leaders to address specific concerns that have been expressed. For instance, we have ensured that no consecrated host will be used as part of the reenactment.”

We have to take the word of Satanists that they aren’t using a consecrated host.
Why should we believe them? They serve the Father of Lies.
You can choose to believe them or not. I understand your skepticism.
However, at this point, it isn't just this group making the claim. Harvard is now saying that it has “ensured that no consecrated host will be used as part of the reenactment.”
How? I don't know. They didn't say.
Furthermore, the original posters posted on campus didn't call the event a “black mass,” but rather a “re-enactment” of a “black mass.” This returns to your original post, that there is no "black mass" without a consecrated host. This group never claimed to be holding a "black mass." That suggests that there was never an intention to use a consecrated host.

Yes. Thanks for the link.
“Why should we believe them?”
I agree with this and this was my take on not trusting their statement about not using a consecrated host as well.
It strikes me as naive for any of us to believe anything that comes from the mouth of a satanist. The devil is a liar by definition and so are his minions.
-— A black mass is a ritual performed as a parody of the Roman Catholic Mass -—
It’s an inversion.
