Holy war rocks Harvard as the Catholic Church fights back against Satanic mass

Church officials say they will “combat evil” by hosting a positive worship service to counter a Harvard group’s Satanic mass planned for Monday evening. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston will host a Eucharistic procession from MIT to a nearby church for an hour of prayer, The Boston Globe reports. The religious procession will end up at St. Paul’s Parish in Harvard Square, just a 10-minutes walk from the Queen’s Head Pub in Memorial Hall the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is set to hold a “black mass.” A black mass is a ritual performed as a parody of the Roman Catholic Mass. In an official statement, the Archdiocese said it fears that people who partake in the ceremony are “underestimating the power of Satan.” Club members say that they are holding the service for educational purposes, but church officials say that the service is offensive.

But Sitetest:

Won't Harvard bear the responsibility for this? Whether night school or not, Harvard's name is attached.

If Harvard wants to clear its name, it must take action. Otherwise, it is a Harvard black mass.

“Shouldn’t we insist that they advertise it to the rest of the world?”

It is revealing for them to place these particulr cards on the table.

And, no, the virgin is not always sacrificed. There are survivors in the USA who are just now speaking out. Their stories can be read at the SNAP Survivors website.

I emailed the President of Harvard - whose name is Faust, by the way:

“Would you support a ‘re-enactment’ of a Nazi SS induction ceremony for, you know, ‘cultural study?’ This is infinitely worse.”

You should provide the link to the SNAP survivors website and explain the connection to that site if there is one.

"To stand with them is to stand with Christ, and I want to be wherever Christ is, regardless of denomination."
So, you stand with the Pope on redistribution of wealth?

Please. "Them" refers to those who are going to stand against the Black Mass at Harvard by presenting the gospel through the Eucharist.

I yearn to stand with Christ. When the Pope stands with Christ, I stand with the Pope. When Flip Benham stands with Christ, I stand with Flip Benham. When Rod Parsley stands with Christ, I stand with Rod Parsley. When I find myself not standing with Christ, I stop standing with myself, and start standing again with Christ--and when I don't, I hope someone will tell me that I need to move, and if I refuse, I hope they will yank me off of my idolatrous throne and kick me towards Christ. 'Nuff said.

Is there a linkage between survivors of Satanic black masses and the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests?

I think you are conflating two different things?

Dear RoosterRedux,

Oh, baloney. Harvard is not sponsoring or endorsing the event. As far as I can tell, the student club isn't even recognized by the school. They don't even appear to be able to get free space on campus.

If I start a “FreeRepublic Posters Cultural Studies Club” and hold an event without any cooperation on the part of Jim Robinson, I don't see why he would be responsible for it.

The only relevant tie to Harvard is that the bar that these people are renting is owned by Harvard.

In contrast, the student organization called Harvard Pro-Life, comprising students and other members of the Harvard community, actually meet regularly on campus, for free.

Does that mean that Harvard endorses the pro-life cause? Hardly!

However, Harvard does recognize and engage with Harvard Pro-Life, which persuaded Harvard to refund that part of the mandatory student health fee that supports free elective abortions for students who object morally to the fee.

Do you think that this further engagement of Harvard Pro-Life by the official university administration makes Harvard pro-life?

A Satanic Black Mass reenactment is scheduled to take place at the Queen’s Head Pub in Memorial Hall at Harvard University on May 12, with the Mass performed by The Satanic Temple, which is being hosted for the event by the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club.

The Harvard Extension Hub, part of the Harvard Extension School, provides information on “school news, blogs, stories & events,” and it posted an “Official Response to Cultural Studies Event” on May 7 about the Black Mass on its website. (The Harvard Extension School is Harvard University’s primary resource for continuing education courses.)

The “official response” states, “An independent student organization, the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club, plans to host a controversial student event involving a historical reenactment of a black mass ceremony that has a narrator providing historical context and background. Satanic Black Mass ‘Reenactment’ Set For Harvard University on May 12

“Students at Harvard Extension School, like students at colleges across the nation, organize and operate a number of independent student organizations, representing a wide range of student interests.

“Harvard Extension School does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization. But we do support the rights of our students and faculty to speak and assemble freely.

“In this case, we understand that this independent student organization, the Cultural Studies Club, is hosting a series of events—including a Shinto tea ceremony, a Shaker exhibition, and a Buddhist presentation on meditation—as part of a student-led effort to explore different cultures.”

The Queen’s Head Pub is in Memorial Hall, which is at “the heart of Harvard’s campus” and was “dedicated in 1878 as a monument to Harvard alumni who died during the Civil War,” it states on its Facebook page. The Hall was completed in 1876, and the Queen’s Head Pub was built in the Hall’s basement in 2007. The pub is 12,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 450 guests. Source

BTW, I am in favor of the mass. I like free speech.

You might have read the thread before piping up (that said, I seldom do).;-)

The location is on Harvard premises. The University could prevent this. It is horribly offensive to Christianity. This has nothing to do with Freerepublic other than the fact thay we are “conservatives” who support Judeo Christian values. This is a curse to the university, our nation, and our future.

Dear RoosterRedux,

I've seen and read all this. A couple of days ago.

In what way does this support your lie that Harvard is sponsoring, endorsing, or responsible for this event?

Can you read?

This is what you posted:

“Harvard Extension School does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization. But we do support the rights of our students and faculty to speak and assemble freely.”

Just as they support the right of Harvard Pro-Life to do their thing. Or do you think that allowing Harvard Pro-Life to use Harvard facilities and resources for FREE amounts to Harvard being pro-life as an organization? Are you kidding?

Harvard Republicans ALSO get to use free space and resources at the university. Do you think that Harvard is officially REPUBLICAN??

The Anscombe Society has held events on campus, sponsored by other Harvard student associations. The Anscombe Society is pro-traditional marriage and morality, opposing the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage, among other things. Do you think Harvard is anti-homosexual marriage?

And heck, this group of students, the “Harvard Extension School Student Cultural Studies Club,” can't even get free space from the university! They had to RENT for MONEY the campus bar.

I can favor Free Speech without “favoring” a satanic mass. They can do it but I don’t like it. These pot smoking idiots in their goth outfits who get off on this play evil need to get their sorry butts in church, which is a safe place for weak minded fools.

Hey Mr Sitetest:

"My lie?"

I don't lie. I may err or misstate, but I don't lie.

To accuse another freeper of lying is quite a charge. It goes to my very soul. Why would I lie? As a Christian, I seek only the truth. Do I err? All the time. Do I err with the intention to mislead? NEVER.

Do you lie? Are you projecting your own habits onto me?

If you do not lie (and I presume you do not), do not presume that I might lie...I don't!

I posted a quote and gave a link to its sources.

Just to know, are you a Christian...is that your approach to this? Or are you a cantankerous non-Christian simply looking for a fight?

I'm fine either way, I just like to know who I am dealing with.

Dear mgist,

“The location is on Harvard premises.”

So is Harvard Pro-Life. Does that mean that Harvard endorses the cause of life? Do you think Harvard is against legalized abortion?

So are the Harvard Republicans. Do you think Harvard is officially Republican, or endorses or supports the Republican Party?

There are some differences between, say, Harvard Pro-Life and Harvard Republicans versus the Harvard Extension School Student Cultural Studies Club. The main difference is that Harvard Pro-Life and Harvard Republicans are recognized student organizations, this extension school club is not. The difference is that Harvard Pro-Life and Harvard Republicans get to use university space and resources for free. This group had to rent the campus bar.

Could the university prevent this event at this point? Maybe, I'm not sure. The group has a rental contract with the bar. It wasn't necessary for the group to tell the bar management that they were holding a “black mass.” Once having signed the contract, I don't know what options the bar has to cancel.

But, if they found a way to do so, do you think that maybe the next step would be for liberals to ask the question, Why does Harvard allow the evil, women-hating anti-choice group Harvard Pro-Life to meet FREE on campus?

There are folks who consider what we believe to be hate causes, hate speech, and us to be hate groups. Harvard lets a lot of these folks operate unimpeded on their campus. Would you like to see pressure from inside and outside of campus to close down these organizations because to even permit these these organizations onto the campus is to support and endorse them, no?

Harvard works closely with the Catholic Student Association to meet the needs of Catholic students at Harvard. Many folks are now calling the Catholic Church a hate group that commits torture for not endorsing “abortion rights.” Would you like to see Harvard cease cooperating with the Catholic Student Association because folks say that means that Harvard is ENDORSING, or is RESPONSIBLE for the Catholic Church and the practice of Catholicism at Harvard?

Harvard is a big place. Over 20K students. Nearly 5K faculty. A couple thousand administrators and staff. A lot of people with a lot of different opinions. Harvard generally tries to be tolerant of all points of view, and tries to leave people be.

If you don't like that, remember that those of us who are practicing, orthodox Catholics hold to some distinctly-minority views about things.

There is no curse on Harvard generally because of this. What a disgusting, ugly, puerile, immature, evil, untrue thing to say. Any curse accrues to the people actually holding this event. You slander, demean and calumniate (a mortal sin, by the way) a lot of good, decent people, including a lot of devout Catholics at Harvard when you say garbage like this. Did you say that you were in some way going to be affiliated with Harvard?

I don't disagree (this is new territory for me), but God gave man the right to choose even Satan.

Better we know the enemy than his gray silhouette.

That said, I don't think these kids have any idea of the danger they are getting into.

I wish their parents had such faith that they could advise them of the danger of their path...but alas they seem not to.

Yes, they need our constant prayers.

But on a positive note...as least the enemy and his army are now visible.

Dear RoosterRedux,

You have stated false things that are obviously false. Read what you actually posted.

I'm assuming that you're literate enough to read it, and see that Harvard 1) did not plan this event; 2) is not giving material support for the event; 3) endorsing or supporting the event; 4) even recognizing the students holding the event; 5) even providing the minimal support they give actual, recognized student groups.

Furthermore, until the posters were put up by the student group, it isn't likely that anyone even remotely involved in the administration of Harvard or the bar knew that they were planning a "black mass." I've seen the form to request the bar rental. It doesn't ask for details of the event. "Cultural studies" would have suffice.

If that is beyond your comprehension, then I retract my comment. Otherwise, it stands.
