Kherson (Ukraine) governor calls Hitler 'liberator' addressing veterans on Victory Day
RT ^ | 5-10-2014 | RT

Addressing the public on a Victory Day, the governor of Ukraine’s southern Kherson region trampled on the feelings of many veterans and desecrated the memory of all those who perished during the war against Nazi Germany by calling Hitler a “liberator.”

Governor of Kherson region Yuri Odarchenko was booed by thousands including WWII veterans when he told the previously cheering crowd that the Soviet Union tried to enslave Ukraine, while Hitler on the other hand tried to bring freedom to their land.

“Those [Soviet] aggressors justified their capture not only by their desire to seize others' territory and enslave the people, but they also put forward slogans about liberating nations and people that inhabit the lands which Hitler hoped to capture,” Odarchenko told the crowd.

Painting his version of the events further, he challenged history by saying that “if you read history books, we have a number of documentaries on this, then we see that he [Hitler] first of all put forward a slogan of liberating people from the communist yoke, and liberating people from the tyrant Stalin,” Odarchenko said, sparking anger and outraged by the crowd.

As thousands yelled out “shame”, a young woman with a child approached the governor, stripped him of the microphone, before throwing it away.

A lot would sign up and they'd be dead wrong to do so no matter what. PERIOD.

You can't have two masters, it's a moral issue so the masters are Christ and Satan.

I don't care how many people join the local democrat party because it's good for their business they're wrong to do and serving the democrat agenda by doing so no matter how they say they actually vote. That's not nearly as stark a choice but it's the same basic question, is serving evil serving evil or is it just a convienence.

“BTW I use hammer and sickle rag as a mop, I used it on the Memorial Day too...”

Did you do it at Memorial Day event for those that died in WW2? I didn’t think so, either.

On lies and liars

Epictetus:
Liars are the cause of all the sins and crimes in the world.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn:
To stand up for truth is nothing. For truth, you must sit in jail. You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me. The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.

“I get that you will scream “PROAGANDA!” at anything that makes the coup look bad.”

The Ukrainian parliament voted unanimously to impeach the president. They said there was no coup. I believe them over you any day.

So, list someone the Nazis didn't kill now and again?

So then like everyone else, most Ukrainians despise Nazis.

Understand?

“Ever since various factions have been fighting over who gets the biggest share of the corruption, not over how to reform the country.”

BINGO....
Ukraine has been a failed, mafia-run state since its inception. The corruption is on such a scale, from national to local, that it would make a Russian Oligarch blush.

It would have failed years ago if not for billions in Russian subsidies keeping it afloat.

The crime and mafia control of much of Ukraine has been well-documented for years.

The US State Department and the Obama Administration definitely backed the wrong horse in this one, but then, they have done that every single time now, in Tunisia, in Libya, In Egypt, and in Syria.

“A lot would sign up and they’d be dead wrong to do so no matter what. PERIOD.”

Okay, what is “A lot”? Give me a number. It would be in the millions wouldn’t it? Yes, it would - probably several million at the very least. It would be “dead wrong” but that is easy to see in our armchairs decades later. At the time it might seem like a great, patriotic thing to do, in fact, it did for many people.

“You can’t have two masters, it’s a moral issue so the masters are Christ and Satan.”

When you’re fighting the Soviets and the Nazis seem like your friends you’re probably more than willing to believe you’re not serving two masters and that you’re in fact fighting Satan himself. After all isn’t communism evil? Didn’t the communists brutalize your village, your family, your church, your priest, your school mates and everyone you knew for 22 years?

“I don’t care how many people join the local democrat party because it’s good for their business they’re wrong to do and serving the democrat agenda by doing so no matter how they say they actually vote.”

Of course. Now, what if it was the Democrat Party that “liberated” America after 22 years of Soviet oppression? Would it be so easy for people to see the Democrat Party as wrong when they stand at the gates of your town as apparent liberators?

“That’s not nearly as stark a choice but it’s the same basic question, is serving evil serving evil or is it just a convienence.’

Is it really a matter of “convenience” when the KNOWN evil side starved 2,000,000 of your fellow citizens to death on purpose just a few years before? Is that what you call a matter of “convenience”? I call it a matter or survival and vengeance and those are pretty tough instincts to overcome.

Be honest. Millions and millions of Americans would have signed up to join the SS. And yes, many of them would have slaughtered Jews, blacks, gypsies, Catholics and whoever else if they had been ordered to do so. Don’t doubt it for a second.

Seems every time Hitler is brought up the obfuscators say, what about Stalin?

Then they they jump to, what about Mao? If that's not enough they say Pol Pot was as bad as all of them.

The fact is let's stick to the issue.

Ukraine suffered because they would not collectivize their farms, like every one else had to.
The Jews, Gypsies, and a host of other groups were liquidated just for being alive.

Big difference my friend.

We have that difference now with the same people that want to kill their enemy and the other group wanting their enemy to comply.

Another statement that shows your bias. Your "that it would make a Russian Oligarch blush" comment is hyperbole.

Russia is corrupt. Ukraine is a little bit more corrupt. One could list the corruption in both countries.

Business Insider lists Russia as the 127th most corrupt country and it lists Ukraine as the 144th most corrupt country.

And that was in 2013, under the Putin puppet, Yanukovich.

Remember him?

He's the guy that the Ukrainians told to leave.

Sounds like a good start. Certainly a better solution than having the 127th most corrupt country in the World Russia annex you.

I’m not sure what’s more pathetic your propaganda posting or your lack of basic reading comprehension. Your own posted link from Encyclopedia Britannica says this:

“The chief prerequisite for a coup is control of all or part of the armed forces, the police, and other military elements.”

That was clearly NOT the case in Ukraine. Also:

“A coup rarely alters a nation’s fundamental social and economic policies, nor does it significantly redistribute power among competing political groups.”

Oops, you were wrong again as the new government is changing course from that of the previous pro-Russian government toward closer relationships with the West both economically and politically - that’s a “ fundamental social and economic” policy.

Stooge.

A large percentage do hate the Nazis but then again, a large percentage want a system that lets them run their own affairs instead of Kiev messing in them; Independence or Autonomy.

The government in Kiev not lifting a finger to keep those who do love the Nazis from using violence is the issue, not whether or not the Nazi lovers are the majority. The Kiev Kiddiels relied heavily on the Nazi boys when they were using a mob to overthrow the government so who believes they'll start to crack down on them?

I know that the only folks from Ukraine I know and talk with others in Ukraine through them say that support for the neoNazis is about fifteen percent of the population and another five percent or so sympathize with large parts of their agenda. They live near Kiev so how that differs nationally I don't know.

I also know that on a couple of video clips I watched there were men wearing the same armband as the Nazi groups wore during the mob violence in Kiev. That's just fine with you, right? Arm the Right Sector types and tell them to get those evil, "ethinc Russian terrorists"?

“Big difference my friend.”

Dead is dead - especially when the people had every right to hold onto their property.

“Seems every time Hitler is brought up the obfuscators say, what about Stalin?”

How are the people who bring up Hitler not the obfuscators? Ukraine wants to be a free country. The Russians want chunks or all of it. What do they say? Oh, the country is now run by Nazis, Hitler lovers. Get it?

So, like I don’t know several million people in the US would enlist in an evil cause? Please, there are that many people working in the abortion industry, an evil cause if there ever was one.

“Ukraine wants to be a free country. The Russians want chunks or all of it.”

You paint this as a “Russia-Ukraine” thing.

What about all those people who simply don’t support what happened in Kiev? Should they be hunted down and “killed like dogs!”, as several ID’s have said of FR?

And remnants of both still exist in Ukraine.

In fact they are the philosophical basis of the two primary political movements in Ukraine...Soviets and Nazis.

I'll not root for either side.

That’s true, but you’re missing the point. Abortion is obviously and intrinsically wrong to you and me (I’m assuming from your comment). After 22 years of Soviet propaganda against the Nazis, how many Americans (or Ukrainians) would think the Nazis must be evil when they in fact just kicked the only evil people you knew out of town? What happens in a society oppressed like that is that people come to think that the Nazis must be good and the things said against them by the Soviets must have all been lies since you know they had lied to you for 22 years.

To say I'm denying the facts is utter nonsense. Your post doesn't contradict anything that I said.

In fact I specifically quantified the facts. Here's my post again since you seemed to have missed it.

"In a 2007 news story, the ABC News reported, "In a country that lost more people defeating the Nazis than any other country, there are now an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 neo-Nazis, half of the world's total."

I would not be surprised if they are all dead now.
