Glenn Beck criticized Cliven Bundys comments on race on his radio program Thursday, saying the Nevada rancher is unhinged from reality and urging his supporters to end your relationship with him.
Hes often wondered if black people would be better of as slaves? Beck said on his program, after reading from Bundys comments on race reported by The New York Times. End your relationship. End your relationship. If that doesnt end your relationship with him, you have to go back and question where did you go wrong. You wondered if blacks were better off as slaves picking cotton and having a family life? They didnt have a family life!
The radio host and former Fox News contributor had previously urged conservatives not to align too closely with Bundy. Earlier this month, he warned that the standoff between Bundy and the federal government had brought in violent, anti-government groups.
Beck in particular zeroed in on Bundys comments about family life during slavery. If he really thinks that slaves had a family life, just that shows you how unhinged from reality this guy is, Beck said. Youve got to distance yourself, you must know who you are standing next to at all times.

Yes.
And some Jews in the camps turned on their fellows to survive too. Some French in France turned on their fellows to survive too.
History did not treat them kindly, nor will it ever when one sacrifices others like sheep to save one’s own ass.
I’m saying this as a Catholic, I know Glenn Beck is a lapsed Catholic who turned to Mormonism. It’s hard to understand this since Mormon teachings & pronouncements by their `apostles’ are virulently anti-Catholic (and anti all other Christian denominations, too), going on about `the great & abominable church’, `whore of Babylon’, etc.
He also practices what I call `Mormon taqqiya’ which is to touch so lightly in mentioning LDS doctrine that it sounds mainstream Christian (their missionaries call this technique “milk before the meat”).
The result is the Glenn of a thousand faces. Some mornings begin with Rollicking Glenn, cutting up with Pat & Stu, there’s Apocalyptic Glenn predicting the downfall of the West; then Tearful Glenn on a variety of topics (note, TG episodes include those long silent pregnant pauses that make you think your radio quit working); Historical Glenn, regaling us with America’s past as `When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again’ echoes in the background; Angry Conservative Glenn, which sounds close to the real deal until one recalls that Lindsey Graham does that one pretty good, too; Neurotic Glenn, who sometimes just can’t stand the fact that two plus two equals four; and the ever popular Prepper Glenn, pushing gold & Doomsday Foods entrees.
Glenn Beck’s show is `like a box of chocolates’. You never know which side is going to turn up next.
Yes, as I said on Twitter, there are a lot of lessons to be learned here.
It all comes down to one thing. Principles. they matter. They aren’t flexible. they are binary.
Until people accept that, we get the chaos we have. From the left and the right.
Yes, there will be an "earth-shattering revelation", to be revealed next week...
I stopped following the Blaze on Facebook. He should be seeing some hard numbers drop there.
I stopped listening daily a couple of years back. He just seemed to be turning arrogant. I can tolerate Rush’s arrogance because he seems to be a genuinely good person. There’s just something about Beck that I smell is wrong.
Well, that story may be half right. Lots of people take an interest in politics at a late age when they get some sort of wake-up call. Beck is pretty open about his former drug use and alcoholism. People change. Are there some con artists in this business? Yes, I believe so, but don’t think Beck is one of them.
It’s also possible that he set in motion things and people that were better than he himself is. Once in a great while this happens.
Adam Nagourney is a professional "journalist"-sniper for the Democrats. He got Cliven Bundy with the equivalent of a "head shot".
I'm sure the Lefties would have LOVED to get Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin into the "kill zone" along with Rand Paul and others.
He says he’s lost a s**tload of Facebook friends.
I see that you're barking to the Lefty "Racism" dog whistle.
You should ask yourself:
What other things have the Lefties trained to you to salivate over?
I am reminded of “When they came for...I did nothing for I was not...”
Like I said weeks ago, if you are waiting for “virgin bride raped at wedding” then there may be no one stand up when they come for you.
You know what... Now that you laid it out like that, I can definitely see that pattern of late.
But yet, it doesn’t seem to me like he was always like that.
I distinctly remember his “come to Jesus moment” on guns and the 2nd Amendment. He was never anti-gun; he was one of those “I just don’t see the need for me to own one” types.
Then I believe some leftards threatened his family, and he went whole-hog into pro-2nd Amendment issues. And I don’t think it was an act. I think he was genuinely freaked by it.
Something changed him along the way.
Just curious, were you concerned about Mitt Romney as a Mormon president? I have to admit that I was, and I went to high school with Mormons, have done business with them, etc. there just something about it. I kept telling myself at least he isn’t a scientologist.
Exactly, who among us actually supported Davie Koresh’s cult but it didn’t mean that he and his supporters should be murdered.
It is not okay to do anything illegal to anyone because you don’t support their beliefs or opinions.
I have always suspected Beck as someone riding coattails to make money only, not to really make any difference and I do believe that maybe the Mormons in charge came down on him and told him which side he could be on in this fight.
“Dumb comments, but its clear Beck is LOVING this. Another opportunity to attack conservatives”
Beck, Bundy & Reid, are ALL Mormons. Used to think Mormons were all decent people. Oh well, one out of three isn’t bad. Bet the Catholics don’t score any better.
I almost said that Rush has good intuition “for a man”, but decided this may not be a jokey thread.
Frankly, the slave question is not even really a racial issue; not in the historic sense as a White/Black issue.. Almost every land, where agriculture with large landed estates, among any of the principle races, had a period when the land was worked by unpaid--so far as a medium of exchange--labor. Whether called serfs, slaves, bondsmen, or whatever, the quality of the life, depended upon all sorts of factors, and is not really suitable for the sweeping generalities, indulged in by people trying to smear other people, over historic phenomena.
Thus, one can talk about a cruel taskmaster, whether in Exodus, Rome, medieval France or Germany, or in the slave era in America. One can also celebrate the same institution in the Song of Roland--if one recognizes that many of those in Charlemagne's army were just such bondsmen, brought to service by their feudal lords--or as in Henry V, by Shakespeare, in the speech honoring those who served on St. Crispin's day.
It is a trap--intended as a trap--for Conservatives to get side-tracked into these Beck type apologies for what is certainly a non-issue in a debate over the BLM maliciously killing a rancher's live-stock. That does not involve speculation as to historic elements in the lives of people in other centuries. The cruelty there is documented by photographs taken this very month.
I am sorry that Beck, who does have something to say on real issues, keeps going off on tangents. We should applaud him, when he gets to the real point; but do not follow him into the pursuit of irrelevancy.

Great post, elcid.
