Like Bush, Many Republicans Are Moderate on Immigration
FiveThirtyEight ^ | Nate Silver

Posted on 04/15/2014 5:45:45 PM PDT by ObamahatesPACoal

The Republican Party has grown more conservative over the past couple of decades. But news commentators sometimes wrongly imply that GOP voters take an extremist position on every issue.

As I described on Friday, for example, Jeb Bush’s support of Common Core educational standards isn’t likely to hurt him if he runs for president in 2016; the issue is neither all that relevant to most Republicans nor all that divisive. If candidates running to Bush’s right are looking for a wedge issue, they’ll probably have some better choices.

By their acts our government has proven themselves totally illegitimate.

Its too bad we can't dissolve it on the spot and hold new mid term elections, as in other countries.

But I don't have confidence that our stupid fellow voters fully appreciate the dire situation our government has put us in.

Well they are also disliked for other reasons. “Bad” numbers are much more complicated than “do you like this or not”.

But, sadly, the numbers are likely correct. We Tea Party do a very poor job of coordinating our message which is fairly well stamped out by the GOPs. Oh WE get the message here, but we are but a small sample.

Can’t say I am the least bit surprised.

Maybe the RINO moderates will find enough moderates to maintain
the House and take the Senate.

However, pass amnesty and millions of conservatives will stay home.
We shall see how that works out for the RINO’s.

It breaks down with the parties, however, I think if the country could have a national referendum on immigration with the public voting, I’m sure those who want full enforcement of current laws (meaning deport illegals, do not employ them, etc.) and a secured border would overwhelmingly win, I’d say 65% approximately.

So, corporate interests or something make some GOPe for it I suppose.

Nate the Obuma Nazi troll needs to be reminded of the penalty for treason. And “following orders” is not an adequate defense.

Keep nominating RINO’s and you will get the same result as Romney
and McCain. What part of that do you not understand?

No deal at all on immigration till the border is truly secure

Even if they agreed to secure the border, they would do like they do on cutting spending -- kick that can down the road.

Spend now -- cut later;

Amnesty now -- secure the border later.

If they had any intention of securing the border, they could do it with existing laws. They won't; thus, their arguments are fraudulant.

Just run Jeb Bush and Hilly Clinton on the same ticket. Will save the leftists, dems and rinos a lot of money.

The people will then have a real primary season to select the REAL candidate that challenges the Bush/Clinton ticket in the Presidential election.

We could elect some actual conservatives.

Take my state for example. Tennessee. It’s a solid red state. But both our Senators — Alexander and Corker — voted for the Senate amnesty bill.

We need conservatives in the Senate and House. Not more RINOs and certainly not more Democrats.

Then I suggest the GOP not nominate another RINO.
We have tried the RINO way. It does not work.
