A new Facebook meme paints two leading Republicans as anti-science because of their alleged views of the age of the Earth.
The Facebook group Being Liberal posted a picture March 10, 2014, featuring side-by-side images of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., looking somewhat sheepish. Bolded text under the images describes the senators views on the age of the Earth and the extinction of the dinosaurs.
According to the meme, Rubio "believes Earth (is) 9,000 years old," and "humans hunted dinosaurs to extinction." Paul, the image proclaims, says the Earth is 10,000 years old and believes "God made dinosaurs disappear to make space for humans." The post received about 5,500 likes and was shared more than 4,000 times.
Upon seeing this, we couldnt resist digging in and finding out just what these two senators believe about the age of the Earth and the demise of the dinosaurs.

If there’s any way this useless information can be used to deflect the real issue of the unconstitutional federal government in the next debates, the MSM will be sure to use it. Anything - just don’t talk about the UNCONSTITUTIONAL $4 TRILLION GOVERNMENT.
Very few people read entire articles. It is mostly knee jerk reaction induced one line comments dripping with shallow thinking.
No scriptural gymnastics are needed.
Genesis starts with the creation of the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1:1.
The earth was already there when Genesis 1:2 stated what was accomplished during the first "day" followed by the rest of the verses in Genesis chapter 1.
So how do you explain Genesis 2:4, which says all of creation was done in a day (the day that God made earth and heaven.) Which explicit rendering do you wish to take literally?
As for death and suffering, they came about because Adam was disobedient and did the opposite of what God told him to do. He sinned, and the wages of sin is death. It happened just as God had warned him.
Actually there are two ways, that scripture is validated.
Miracles that demonstrate God’s power. We can’t see those miracles that have been recorded, but we do have the testimony of those that did. And even occasionally secular references from that time as well.
And prophecy which demonstrate God’s foreknowledge. There were over 176 prophecies identified by Jewish rabbis prior to Jesus that Jesus fulfilled. Some things that weren’t considered prophetic prior to Jesus has a prophetic element that became obvious after Jesus.
For example, Leviticus 26 written by Moses promises Israel that if they obey God they would live in the land in peace. And if they disobeyed, they would be exiled. And if they repented, they’d be brought back and restored to the land. and if they didn’t repent, horrible things would happen to them but eventually God would bring them back anyway because of the covenant He had made with Abraham.
You see this fulfilled. Israel disobeyed and was exiled to Babylon. They repented and 70 years later they were brought back. The Prophet Zechariah writing sometime after the Babylonian exile spoke of another time when Israel would be gathered back together. And Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was destroyed as Jesus prophesized and Israel was scattered into a second exile. That exile lasted almost 2000 years until they were restored in 1949.
Yep, starting on day 6.
Of course, I wasn’t there, neither were you, and neither were any making any claims to know.
But I know One who was there, and He told us how it happened.
lol
