Michelle: 'There Were Actually Laws in America that Allowed Discrimination Against Black People

First Lady Michelle Obama talked about America as she visited a school today in China. She talked about the American dream:

And my story isn’t unusual in America. Some of our most famous athletes, like LeBron James, and artists, like the singer Janelle Monae, came from struggling families like mine, as do many business leaders -- like Howard Schultz. He’s the head of a company called Starbucks, which many of you may have heard of. When Mr. Schultz was a boy his father lost his job, leaving their family destitute. But Mr. Schultz worked hard. He got a scholarship to a university, and eventually built the largest coffeehouse company in the world.

And then there’s this other guy I know who was raised by a single mother who sometimes struggled to afford food for their family. But like me, this guy got scholarships and loans to attend universities. He became a lawyer and a professor, and then he was a state senator and then a national senator. And then, he became President of the United States. This guy I’m talking about is my husband, Barack Obama. (Applause.)

These stories are the stories of so many Americans, and of America itself. Because in America, we believe that no matter where you live or how much money your parents have, or what race or religion or ethnicity you are, if you work hard and believe in yourself, then you should have a chance to succeed. We also believe that everyone is equal, and that we all have the right to say what we think and worship as we choose, even when others don’t like what we say or don’t always agree with what we believe.

So ignorant. Michelle has no idea that Asians (on the average) are the biggest racists on the planet. That would be true if you were just factoring their racism or bigotry toward other, different Asians, nevermind other races or ethnicities.

The word "slave" does not appear in the Constitution. The framers consciously avoided the word, recognizing that it would sully the document. Nevertheless, slavery received important protections in the Constitution. The notorious Three-fifths clause--which counted three-fifths of the slave population in apportioning representation--gave the South extra representation in the House and extra votes in the Electoral College. Thomas Jefferson would have lost the election of 1800 if not for the Three-fifths compromise. The Constitution also prohibited Congress from outlawing the Atlantic slave trade for twenty years. A fugitive slave clause required the return of runaway slaves to their owners. The Constitution gave the federal government the power to put down domestic rebellions, including slave insurrections.

“I refuse to accept that as a conservative we must hate blacks or object every time the first lady makes a factual statement about US history. We should be willing to admit not only the greatness of the USA but also the sins of the USA. “

Oh, please. We are the most open and self-critiques society on the face of the earth. The pendulum has swung too far to the other side. This is why we have a nation of people who despise their country...this is why we have a nation that knows little about our accomplishments and everything about our faults.

And this is partly why we have reelected a failure of a President, who enjoys diminishing the US at the expense of the cultures around the world that can hold our jock strap.

We don’t hate black people. We hate thugs of every color, some of them are black.

Black people have been raised to hate white people, I have heard it from them myself.

Is that like the IRS’s legal discrimination (partisan witchhunt) against political organizations just because they used words like Constitution and Patriot?

The problematic aspect of the Mooch’s rather “after school” version of United States history, WHENEVER she critiques some aspect of it is her nauseating self absorbtion. The constant narcissistic attempts to fold his mysterious Manchurian candidate’s elevation into a justification for more socialist schemes and redistribution is patently obvious.

She NEVER counterbalances the continual whine of racial and other grievance with an assertion of the noble PRINCIPLES of the Declaration and the codified protections for liberty and federalism that are enshrined in the constitution because she and her hubby seek to undermine the transcendently objective moral truths of the constitution and the Declaration with a corrupted notion of arbitrary dispensations based upon the whims of a socialist/Marxist ruling elite headed by her, hubby and others like them.

The history of this nation is flawed, it has commited great sins. Notwithstanding that it is and has always beenthe greatest nation in history because of the founding PRINCIPLES which the Mooch will never acknowledge, if she even knows them. Her frame of reference will ALWAYS be primarily one based on real and imagined grievance.

Besides the constant self reference and navel gazing is more than I can stand from this semi-literate dunce.

James Brown was a success (and ran businesses, he wasn’t just a performer/band leader) prior to 1965. And he said openly that it could only have happened in America for him to go from shining shoes on the steps of a civic auditorium to being able to headline inside there.

The Black Panthers and other Marxist separatist groups were resentful of his wealth and capitalist enterprises.

My mothers side of the family came from Norway in 1880s to Kansas and as they got off the train they were told "No Blacks-Mexicans or Jews". They got back on the train and went on to California. My fathers people came from Wales in 1862 and were paid to serve in the Union Army so some rich person didn't have to fight. The money was used to get the wife's and little ones of the three brothers over here. One of the brothers is still at Gettysburg. They could not live under the boot of the British any longer. Bad things have happened to many people-get over it.

Michelle O in China: 'There Were Actually Laws in America that Allowed Discrimination Against Black People Like Me'...

To Michelle O wherever: There Are Now Apparently Few Laws In America Against The Decimation Of White People Like Me; to wit,

Ophra "to end prejudice and racism older white people just have to die" Winfrey, the increasingly popular Knockout Game, and here's some facts that the civil rights industry and its victims industry subsidiary executives don't want the public to know:

I saw this from Patrick J. Buchanan writings:

“Suicide of a Superpower,” this writer concluded: “An analysis of ‘single offender victimization figures’ from the FBI for 2007 finds blacks committed 433,934 crimes against whites, eight times the 55,685 whites committed against blacks. Interracial rape is almost exclusively black on white — with 14,000 assaults on white women by African Americans in 2007. Not one case of a white sexual assault on a black female was found in the FBI study.”

Others reported the same numbers.

But I could not find FBI stats for 2007 that cover black-on-white and white-on-black violent crimes.

I have posted DoJ surveys of victims of crimes including for the year 2007. Turns out that appears to be the source. But these are DoJ stats obtained from interviews with tens of thousands of victims of crime.

Crimes of violence against whites 3,262,660 and 13.3 % were black offenders; that's 433,934 times
Crimes of violence against blacks 562,470 and 9.9% were white offenders; that's 55,685 times
Crimes of violence against whites by blacks is 7.79 times the number of crimes of violence against blacks by whites.

(Whites outnumber blacks at least 9-to-1 and ILLEGAL alien Hispanic crimes can be included in the white category.)

This appears to be the source of the claim. So if the Obama/Holder Dept. of Just Us and Our People have not deleted or altered the original Dept. of Justice files here it is:

DoJ crimes stats for 2007

Look for Table 42: "Percent distribution of single-offender victimizations, by type of crime, race of victim, and perceived race of offender"

YES!!! He went to Punahou. It’s a private school in Honolulu. Costs like 25 grand a year to attend. For college, he went to Columbia University and his law degree is from Harvard. Maybe it’s just me, but that doesn’t sound like the background of someone who struggled for money.

Every black American should count their blessing they live here and not Africa. Their ancestors labored hard in America (slaves etc) while the current crop is into freebies, gimmies and affirmative action. With some exceptions

I agree that there was nothing wrong with the face value of the words of her speech; without any overt race-bashing, she summarized the great American accomplishment of correcting the one flaw in the Founding. She said the people who overturned Jim Crow were "ordinary people" -- without identifying them by race.

If you are not looking to reflexively hate everything she says without regard to content, that sentence can certainly be taken to reflect the reality -- most white people in the nation at that time were willing to end Jim Crow, and demonstrated it by electing for two terms the Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower, the first president to outlaw segregation in the military and who put forward the first comprehensive Civil Rights legislation since the days immediately following the Civil War, even though he as bitterly opposed by rabid segregationist white Democrats and their Dixiecrat Senators and Congressmen in DC.

That said, the mainstream also expected that a newly-freed people would rise to the responsibilities that go along with political freedom, as had so many waves of ethnic immigrants before then. And many A-A folks have done so, without demanding crutches and reparations; that so many slid back to the Democrat party plantation is another whole story.

As for the speech on its face as quoted, no sense arguing with it; it's pretty well stated.

Democrat leaders have always looked down their nose at their black brethren under the skin.

When oppression failed, they switched to bribes. The man on the street might think “a hand up” and be copacetic with it, but it’s becoming “a hand out” for obscene proportions of the population. And Democrat leaders KNOW this and cynically keep it up anyhow.

That old reading style is difficult for me but still...where does it say you can buy or trade black people?

Good Lord, girl, how can you look at those clauses and not see that they permitted and enforced the buying and selling of human beings for labor?

The next order of business after learning to read is learning to interpret the meaning and context of what you are reading. A look at the statistics of the time will show you who the vast majority of the enslaved persons were -- imported Africans.

And, some past injustices to particular ethnic groups took that form, even getting their own elite in on the game against the masses. I just thought of the Trail Of Tears. That’s not quite as simple as it sounds. The Cherokees who were marched cruelly and often fatally to Oklahoma were treated thus at the wishes not only of Andrew Jackson but also of high muckety mucks in the Cherokee tribe!

correction: ethnic Africans (many who remained enslaved were born in America and descended from those who were imported originally)
