Less than 24 hours after Arizonas governor vetoed a bill that had been criticized as anti-gay, similar legislation in Georgia and Mississippi are hitting new roadblocks.
Georgia state senator Josh McKoon conceded on Thursday that support for his religious-freedom bill is evaporating, 11Alive Atlanta reports. He told the Huffington Post that a committee vote on his legislation, previously scheduled for next Monday, has been taken off the calendar. McKoon said his bill merely protects religious rights of Georgia residents, but critics argued it would allow business owners to refuse services to gays based on religious beliefs.
In Mississippi, the state House of Representatives Civil Subcommittee stripped key provisions on Wednesday that had been attacked by the ACLU as discriminatory. The organization said the legislation would allow for even broader discrimination than the SB 1062 bill that was vetoed in Arizona, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.

See there? Trying to protect religious freedom is now HATE.
Wonder if the critics of this bill will scream when moslem business owners refuse service to Christians—ie: taxi drivers who refuse people with seeing-eye dogs, people who have just purchased alcohol and people with bar-b-q take-out orders, just as an example.
I almost wish that was the reason, unfortunately from what I've seen, it seem the end times are the very last thing on most Christians mninds. Then enjoy their houses and cars and being part of the popular crowd and having lots of Facebook friends and being popular at work and it's easier to just shut up and just go along than try to fight what most have already deemed a lost battle and risk being labeled a bigot, or losing friends or making waves at work.
“Id hate to be responsible for you getting a thrombo.”
Thank you for your concern for my health. I appreciate it.
It does appear you’re reading my posts, too. There goes another one of your claims...
Reprobate minds taking over.
You may be right about most resistance (to gay marriage) not going away if it stopped at just that. We’ll never know, because the gay rights movement won’t stop simply at homosexual marriage. This is the new civil rights battle for the left. If you want to see where it leads, look at how it worked last time. We’re talking hate crime laws, endless discrimination lawsuits, quotas, etc.
We are on the same page.
Private businesses should have the right to hire or fire whoever they want for whatever reason they want. They should also have the right to refuse business to anyone for any reason. The further we move back toward that simple standard, the better off we’ll be. Just look at the absolute mess created by the civil rights, aka grievance, industry. The constant meddling cannot stop so long as people look to government as some great fairness arbitrator.
Be careful there, rollo. Some might accuse you of screaming insults... /s
Has anyone considered these could be false flag operations?
some useful idiot republican is pushed to put this forward and then democrats can jump up and down screaming shock and horor and beg homosexuals for campaign funds?
I agree 100%—ANY business has the right to refuse service.
My point IS, the critics won’t utter a PEEP when a MOSLEM business owner refuses service to a Christian based on religious beliefs.
Refuse a sodomite? Hell to pay.
Refuse a Christian? Crickets.
Hang in there man. Warchild is nothing but a pro-homo troll.
If you’re going to work for the other side, be my guest. But do it somewhere else! If you continue badmouthing our posters I’ll see you to the door.
I'm an adult (about to be 71) and while concerned about taxes and the tyranny of unionism and its evil twin, the minimum wage, the issue of sodomy is high on my list of priorities. As a Conservative Christian, I stand in agreement with our Founding Fathers and the founder of Free Republic who enumerates this list of core principles:
Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, PRO-GUN, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism...
Note that pro-God is first and foremost. Being true to Almighty God and His Word means that that opposition to homosexuality is core to honoring His Teachings. With homosexuality comes the additional baggage of pedophilia, godless atheism and abortionism. They're all part of the same package that the sodomites are attempting to push with their powerful lobby of homosexual thugs.
Without God, there's nothing. And we all know what God did when He smote Sodom and Gomorrah for their unspeakable evil.
Calling someone a Homo is soooo seventh-grade, and hardly proof of sophisticated political sensitivities.
...unlike your ignoring other poster’s viewpoints that don’t comport with your own...
No problem

You’re on the losing side
Ok, bye.
Free Republic is an unabashed pro-God site and that means the leftist trio of sodomy, pedophilia and abortion is off limits.
