NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The salt shortage persists in New Jersey. Officials have failed to get permission for a barge with 40 tons of salt to set sail for the tristate region
Angel Morales, a resident of Jersey City says her car just wont go anywhere.
Look, you see I went up and I started sliding back, she said.

I use Sea Salt now as it has less sodium.
Same here Pittsburgh and most of PA.
Last night we got hit with rain/snow and ice. Roads were a mess but passable.
This winter sucks.
40 tons? Jeez, that's enough to fill up a short handful of dumptrucks.
I'm thinking misprint, don't editors exist anymore? I'd take this number with a grain of salt.
Maybe Holder will investigate the Salt Shortage in NJ while he is digging through all their emails.
Notice that Holder himself ignores subpenas issued to him.
The most dangerous thing on the road in a winter storm - cars with Jersey plates. Worst. winter. drivers. ever.
There’s not enough salt in the world...
Know someone who contracts with the state of NJ for plowing
and salting roads
Cant find any salt - was in Philly and Deleware last week looking for some
PS
Its snowing AGAIN !!!! Expect up to 3 in , roads are mess
Was sliding entire way south on 287
Yes let's make fun of southerners because they can't drive on ice. OH Wait, NJ is NOT a southern state.
NY has an essentially unlimited supply of rock salt. Most of the central tier of NY has salt beds 300+ feet think under it. All they have to do is dig a hole down to it and dig it out.
Tell christie to stop sprinkling it on his food.
Yup. Where I went to school in Livingston county, you could look out the windows and see the piles and piles and piles of salt at the Retsof Salt mine. My old man used to drive the trucks on and off.
IIRC that deposit is thought to be the second biggest salt deposit in the world, there is one somewhere on South America bigger.
Thanks for the tip about 287. Hope you got to where you needed to go safe.
Live by the Regulatory Regime, suffer the consequences.
Had “Joisey” not gone Democommie long ago, they could have gotten the salt they need.
Let ‘em slide off the road into the ditch where they can freeze for all the rest of America cares.
Gee, I think Atlantans proved this year to be pretty lousy winter drivers. And pretty easily scared, too!
287 is the worst road in NJ. The only accident I’ve had in 40 years happened there.
For a state which 1/2 of which is sand, I’m failing to understand what their slippery roads problem may be?
Check Christi’s garage....
Sand is better on the road for traction, Salt just eats your car, promoting corrosion. (We don't use salt on the roads in North Dakota, and our vehicles last a lot longer as a result.)
There is a salt mine here in Western NY.
Get a dump truck and drive it a few hours up the road.
Plenty of salt to go around
