SALT LAKE CITY, February 12, 2014Can Utah shut down the new NSA data center by turning off the water? A new bill introduced by state Rep. Marc Roberts seeks to do just that.
The legislation drafted by a transpartisan coalition organized by the Tenth Amendment Center (TAC) and the Bill of Rights Defense Committee (BORDC) called OffNow Coalition. The Utah Fourth Amendment Protection Act would expressly prohibit state material support, participation, and assistance to any federal agency that collects electronic date or metadata without a search warrant that particularly desribes the person, place and thing to be searched or seized.
Without question, the mass surveillance and data collection by the Utah Data Center is a delicate and important matter, Roberts said. But for me, the language of the Fourth Amendment is clear. It simply protects us against unreasonable and unwarranted searches or seizures of our persons, private residencies and property, documents and information and personal and private belongings. This legislation preserves those rights to the people.

Maybe not, but it sure is harder to stop them when the action you're taking was considered and voided by no less a man than Justice John Marshall nearly 200 years ago.
“Predictive modeling of meta-data.”
We thought about this for a long time, predictive modeling of meta-data, and when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union. “
LOL
Endeavor to Persevere!
yep...... good lick
When Holder comes, arrest him on conspiracy to damage Utah
Time to get back to basics, yes?
Yeah... There was a day when States rights were key. Unfortunately with 50 years of communist educators in the federal indoctrination camps known as public schools glorifying marxism and the antichrist living in the White House, it’s not likely anyone will enforce any new legislation to protect our rights if they’re not enforcing what’s already on the books.
Maybe NSA will provide diapers.
(_)o(_)bama will be pulling out his pen and paper.
I wonder what motivated politicians to do this; usually they are so useless that it’s a wonder anything gets done at all.
As they should be. They are unconstitutional and racist./sarc
Those pesky Mormons! Time for a few drone strikes!/s
It depends on the water law in Utah.
Most easterners are utterly ignorant of wester water law. There’s more kinks and tricks embedded in western states’ water law than most people can possibly realize. Things like “best use” and “seniority” can trump even the federal government.
BTW, while the Feds control much western land, they don’t control the water, especially sub-surface water. That’s controlled by the state engineers in the various states.
How can we help in this effort?
That’s about 1 fully loaded semi truck of water,,every 10 minutes,, every day, 24 hours a day,,,,, forever.
And for extra fun, its a very lonnnnng drive to a water source, and an argument when you get there. Arid western states are funny like that.
Probably a LOT of fiber in/out of the center. Satellite and microwave just wouldn’t provide the bandwidth for a place such as that. I would think that a mob armed with cable cutters would make short work of the place.
It is my understanding that water will be cut off. The center can’t function without water
> may i be the first to say down with fedgov, and up with a limited, smaller, constitutional federal government.
Instead of an unconstitutional feral government which is our current sittuation.
I should've listened to my grandfather, who said: "Want to be a millionaire in a western state? Be a water lawyer."
EPA Stealthily Propels Toward Massive Power Grab of Private Property Across the U.S..
The proposed rule, obtained by the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee in advance of EPA Administrator Gina McCarthys testimony at a Thursday oversight hearing, widely broadens the definition of waterways over which the federal government has jurisdiction to as little as a water ditch in a backyard. The Clean Water Act redefinition of waters of the United States would include all ponds, lakes, wetlands and natural or manmade streams that have any effect on downstream navigable waters whether on public lands or private property.
EPA preparing to unleash a deluge of new regulations
The EPAs draft water rule is a massive power grab of private property across the U.S. This could be the largest expansion of EPA regulatory authority ever, Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith. If the draft rule is approved, it would allow the EPA to regulate virtually every body of water in the United States, including private and public lakes, ponds and streams.
Obama will just declare the water to be federally controlled and send troops to protect the water supply for the NSA.
