I would also point out that Nagin had the LNG rescue embattled white tourists at the convention center during the Katrina debacle who were being menaced with extreme prejudice by the predatory blacks

He’s not without some reasonableness

And he blasted that daft governor as much or more than Bush

And BTW....I don’t think Katrina was Bush’s finest hour either

I think you raise a reasonable point. Contrarians with facts and new points of view are welcome by me!

I don’t know the details in this case, but I think it’s still likely that money paid after he is out of office is still a bribe. Unethical behavior is still unethical, regardless of whether there is a legal loophole. I know of a local case where a government official was given a very high-paying (close to $1M/yr) private sector job after he was out of office. I have little doubt it was because he steered high dollar contracts to the company that later employed him.

Which bus will Mr. Nagin be thrown under? He’ll need a snorkel.

At first, I thought the court was state of LA. I was wrong, it was Federal court.

It can be deduced that Nagin has been thrown under the bus

It’s amazing. He was a good Mayor at the start, but when Katrina hit, he totally lost his mind. Perhaps it’s better we found out that way. Imagine if he had breezed through two terms and decided to return to the GOP, run for Governor and have some other disaster befall him. Bad things happen for a reason, I guess, to test us.

In view of the turmoil and suffering visited on me and my family in Katrina’s wake, I’ve well and truly earned the right to invite the pair of you to kiss my pasty white butt.

I would say a week or two.

If Obama cared about Nagin (or if Nagin had some dirt on Obama) then Holder would never have allowed the case to go to trial. Holder generally doesn't allow black people to be prosecuted unless they have done something to piss off the Obamas.

Obama may still pardon him, but it will not happen until after the elections in November and probably not until Obama is going out the door in 2016.

The latest here is that the drama will go on. He’s not done yet-supposedly. There are rumors of a ‘bomb’ regarding the DA’s office that will come to light and enable Nagin’s conviction to be overturned, earning him another trial. Other verdicts are supposedly going to be affected too. If true this could go on for awhile yet. This IS Louisiana, crooked politics is normal and there is much at stake if REAL justice is done. If one goes down, he takes LOTS of others with him. Could be what’s happening now. Ray Ray took his shot at charming his way out, now he may be singing and giving up others. STAY TUNED!

WRONG. Nagin defeated Mitch Landrieu in the mayor's race in 2006.

Although, Mitch has been taking campaign contributions from one of the same guys the feds went after Nagin for associating with... But Obama & the Landrieus are tight.

Actually, I have learned that Nagin has denied ever having been a “registered” Republican, but he did back Bobby Jindal in 2003.
