House passes debt-ceiling increase with no add-ons
CNBC ^

Posted on 02/11/2014 2:35:53 PM PST by Red in Blue PA

This is a developing news story. An earlier version of the article follows:

House GOP leaders announced Tuesday they will advance this week an increase in the government's borrowing cap that's free of any add-ons. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday night because of the threat of a winter storm.

House Speaker John Boehner announced the plan after a poll of the Republican rank and file failed to show enough support for a plan to tie the hike in the debt limit to a plan to reverse a recently passed cut to military pensions.

The Ohio Republican said he expected virtually all of President Barack Obama's Democratic allies to vote for the so-called clean debt cap increase but that he would be one of the few Republicans to back it in the vote.

Definitively at a large cost. Everything was basically through the military. If you got something at the consumer level besides food it was from usually from the same factories that made military stuff, but at a lesser quality.

Instead, they threaten to play games with the debt ceiling. As if that would solve the problem even if they followed through. It's political posturing for its own sake, while they keep passing budgets we can't afford.

They are not using the leverage they have. The GOP leadership has surrendered. An amnesty, according to Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation, will cost $6.3 trillion yet the GOPe principles include legalization of the 12 million lawbreakers. How is that being fiscally responsible?

We now have a clean debt ceiling bill passed by the Dems with 18 Reps including the entire GOP House leadership, i.e., Boehner, Cantor, and McCarthy. They need to be replaced.

The GOP-elites are pushing AMNESTY under the guise of an unskilled labor shortage.

BUNK.

The demonic-rats and their demonic-rat Teacher’s Unions are graduating millions of uneducated, semi-literate, and unskilled students every year, who are qualified to fill that so-called “labor shortage.” That is, provided those same High School graduates or drop-outs can’t make more money living off welfare and other taxpayer funded, “government benefits.”

There has been no surrender.

Debt ceiling.

Amnesty being pushed.

ObamaCare "It's the law of the land - get used to it"

They have totally surrendered, and you - you are simply justifying their surrender as some kind of moral high ground.

Surrender is victory according to party hacks like you.

The so-called 'officers' in the GOP that you reference are not 'restraining' their troops - they have declared WAR ON THEM.

So you have the 'generals' of the GOP attacking their own troops along with the MarxoFascists.

I call that betrayal and treason. Selling out your base to the enemy and attacking your base to the benefit of the enemy.

Amnesty is condoning illegal invasion by aliens hostile to and standing against all that our republic is founded upon. To ignore our immigration laws as written and to for the FOURTH TIME in our history... rewarding invading enemies of our country for breaking our laws by simply being here illegally... is HIGH TREASON!

Labor shortage? SHORTAGE? We have 20% (plus) in real unemployment and growing. The rat bastards are destroying free enterprise as we watch. Won’t be long at this rate until we become the USSA!

I think we have crossed that Rubicon Jim... we are the USSA... and some of us want to win our America back from the communists. I know that you do... I just think socialism is our form of government today... under obama and reid... with a cooperative Vichy American as speaker of the House.

LOL.

I know, I know!

I really and truly want to see a valid labor shortage of these "so called" unskilled laborers , when in fact we have millions of our own out of work, who are also unskilled and semi-literate, but at least ours speak English and they're already American citizens.

But then we are told, that the illegals are only doing the work that Americans won't. I want to see that for real!

Let's Give Labor Shortage a Chance!

The debt ceiling battles were previously fought and lost.

Repeating the same action in the vain hope of a different outcome is the definition of insanity.

Unless the Senate is regained, there is little hope of any legal change to be implemented by the Congress in 2014.

There are those here who are convinced the Chief Justice is bought. That is in my view unlikely and he is going to get several cracks at Obamacare. Rush was ranting today about illegal Obama actions. I have never heard Rush say he has read the law so can’t state with certainty if he is correct. If there are several sentences “as directed by the Secretary”, all is lost short of revolution.

Something we all need to keep in mind and understand while we exhaust all the other options: there is no example in all human history of a people able to successfully vote out a coup from power in order to restore what they once were.

Of course today a coup is no longer seen as a coup - instead it is disguised as a 'fundamental transformation'.

Same difference.

Senate Votes on Debt Limit; McConnell and Cornyn Vote ‘Aye’

A dozen Republicans voted with Democrats in all, most in a clump after McConnell and Cornyn led the way: John Barrasso of Wyoming, Susan Collins of Maine, Bob Corker of Tennessee, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Mike Johanns of Nebraska, Mark Kirk of Illinois, John McCain of Arizona, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and John Thune of South Dakota.

The usual traitors, with a couple of additions.

The debt ceiling battles were previously fought and lost.

Wrong. The leadership broke and ran away from those attempting to hold the line, and negotiated a surrender behind their backs because they could not handle the political heat.

Thats called cowardice.

Unless the Senate is regained, there is little hope of any legal change to be implemented by the Congress in 2014.

'Legal change'??? Irrelevant. "Legal" now means whatever Obama says is legal, because your GOP leaders surrendered and have let him get away with making and changing the law on his whim, rendering Congress itself, irrelevant.

Now you have committees writing Executive Orders for Obama to sign, totally bypassing the need for Congress altogether.

all is lost short of revolution.

The 'revolution' is already come. That is what Hope and Change were all about. That is what 'Fundamental transformation' meant. But people like you lecture us about not fighting a battle we will lose, when what was lost is the Republic and the country itself.

Because people like you and your leadership surrendered to the coup and joined the tyrants in going to war against those attempting to stop the lawlessness.

Wow. With that kind of power, I am surprised that the military gave up Communism. They had the power and any wealth.

The debt ceiling battles were previously fought and lost.

Not so. Reagan approved the increase in 1987 only after he vowed to lend support to a new anti-spending, budget-balancing bill by Senators Phil Gramm (R-Texas), Ernest Hollings (D-S.C.) and Warren B. Rudman (R-N.H.).

President Obama's intimate familiarity with the congressional debt ceiling battle was what led him to sign the Budget Control Act of 2011.
