Earlier today, Garry Kasparov accused NBC Sports of pushing Putin propaganda. This latest downplay of decades of communism probably won’t make Kasparov change his mind about the network that’s airing the Sochi Olympics.
Many viewers of the opening ceremony couldn’t believe their ears when the narrator referred to decades of Soviet-era communism as a “pivotal experiment”:

Just recall how NBC lauded China during the Bejing Olympics.

It seems like NBC has more communists per capita within it’s stuff than Russia and China combined.
They are broadcasting the events so I guess that they don’t want to make waves with their political soul mates in Russia.

It would have been a pivotal experiment if NBC would look at it and say, “Wow. We’re never going to do that again.”
Instead, they just look at it as something that failed, but is worth another try.

I think NBC deserves all of the criticism it gets for this idiotic phrase that fails to mention the tens of millions of people killed in the Gulag or killed by other Soviet atrocities. Likewise, I’m disgusted every time I see a FReeper groveling like a groupie and writing some gushy praise for Putin who was employed by the KGB when the Gulag was still a tool of class genocide. Putin still threatens his neighbors, still aids America’s enemies (Iran’s mullahs), and aids those who spy on America.
But it’ll work THIS time, because WE’LL be the ones in charge. /sarcasm

Communism is pivotal all right....it pivoted over 100 million people into the ground.
