There are no words. This is one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard.
The article states that this little angel moved to her Father’s home after the previous home was proved to be neglectful. Poor little one probably endured all this pain during her five short years here on earth. The only good thing is that she is now with God... happy, joyful and shielded from any pain or abuse. Rest in peace, little one.
what have we as a society come to?
Grape soda. Hmmm.
RIP Little One, you are with God now.
Two liters? This is crazy. Throw them in the clinker.
Even so, I didn’t realize it could cause death. Was she forced to chug it all at once?
2 liters of soda will make your brain swell and possibly rupture??
Ignorant people. I don’t think they knew it was potentially fatal. Remember back in the day if you were caught smoking you’d be made to smoke the whole pack, or at least until you got sick and didn’t want anymore. Same idea here...just ignorant. There was a case a couple of years sgo where s radio station had a water drinking contest and a contestant died.
Throw them to some hungry wolves.
Whats the difference between 2 liters for a 5 yo, and a few gallons for an adult over 50 at colonoscopy time?
The couple admits to 2.4 liters. They also admit she vomited and urinated herself. IMHO... the 2.4 liters is off. The couple made this little one drink a lot of fluid until her little brain swelled.
Punishment? For what? Article doesn't say.
I’d imagine the colonoscopy fluids balance levels of potassium and sodium with the body. A lot of water will cause cells to lose these to the point of harm.
All I'm asking for is twenty minutes and a baseball bat.
The victim, Alexa Linboom, was allegedly being punished for taking some of her step mothers grape soda after being told not to.
Allegedly the child, as a form of punishment, was forced to drink grape drinks, as well as a great deal of water, to the point that her body became water intoxicated, Bell said. That led to her brain swelling and all of her systems shutting down, and to her eventual brain death. The punishment was allegedly for stealing a grape drink. I dont know exactly how much liquid she drank , but there were 4.5 12 ounce drinks plus water in-between. Six children including the victim lived in the Vaughn household at the time of the child's death. Police said they are now in foster care. The biological mother of the victim reportedly lives out of state. Bell said there is no previous history of abuse on the record in the Vaughn household. They did employ some alternative forms of punishment, and Ill just leave it at that, Bell added. Bell said this case falls under the Scotty Trexler Law which makes it a first-degree murder case when a child dies as a result of child abuse. He said he has not yet decided whether or not to see the death penalty. Bell added, They treated this child so cruelly that it caused the child to die. I dont know if their intent was to kill the child, but their intent certainly was to harm the child.
