Creationist Ken Ham is having his 15 minutes, following a live debate on evolution held between himself and Bill Nye The Science Guy on Tuesday.
And while youd expect most folks to deem Nye the winner (which they have), Ham is receiving criticism from a source you might not expect: televangelist Pat Robertson.
On the Wednesday edition of his TV show, The 700 Club, Robertson indirectly implored Ham to put a sock in it, criticizing Hams view that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.
Lets face it, there was a bishop [James Ussher] who added up the dates listed in Genesis and he came up with the world had been around for 6,000 years, Robertson began. There aint no way thats possible To say that it all came about in 6,000 years is just nonsense and I think its time we come off of that stuff and say this isnt possible.
Weve got to be realistic that the dating of Bishop Ussher just doesnt comport with anything thats found in science, Robertson continued, and you cant just totally deny the geological formations that are out there.
Lets be real, Robertson begged, lets not make a joke of ourselves.

What the HELL are you talking about??? I’m not blaming anyone.....I’ve NEVER heard anyone actually believe that the earth is only 6000 yrs. old....certainly not Jews...I think they are smarter than that, don’t you??
PFL
What is PFL??? Do tell.
Robertson seems to forget his scripture in favor of appearing “intellectual” to the World...
Matt 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
But, if Pat Robertson had actually watched the debate, he would have learned a whole bunch from Mr. Ham as he refuted every wild claim by the Mr. Nye.
To the most important question, Mr. Nye had to admit that he was not there and could not observe the Creation.
Wow. There sure are a lot of exclamation and question marks in this thread.
Your blatant ignorance disqualifies you from any meaningful participation in this discussion.
Genesis 1:1 is a complete statement. God created the heavens and the earth. What God creates is complete and perfect. But then what? Well, we get Genesis 1:2. Something enormous and catastrophic has happened. Now we have "darkness" and "the deep" and "without form and void". Something big has happened between verse one and verse two. Nobody knows how long it took to get to verse two but a lot has happened between verse one and verse two. So the earth may very well be zillions of years old. True science only discovers the Bible has said all along.
Believing the earth is only 6,000 years old takes the same amount of faith as believing it is billions of years old. Both require the same thing, faith in an unproven, and unprovable, theory.
Could God make a Grand Canyon with layers of different “carbon datable” content?
Probably. Why? Why not? Did He?
Nye was paid $70,000 for this debate which is a farce. The proposal should have been, come to defend evolution for free. We are giving you a good platform for this
$70,000 is Nye’s standard speaking fee
I think that the better scripture would be:
1 Corinthians 1:18-31
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
That no flesh should glory in his presence.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Carbon dating doesn’t work beyond 10’s of thousands of years...
We have a recent example of how the Grand Canyon and its layers formed - the eruption of Mt St Helens gave us a “mini grand canyon” which formed rapidly from layers laid down in the eruption followed by carving out by rapidly moving water.
A similar but larger catastrophic event formed the grand canyon... the Flood, or more accurately, the retreat of the waters after the flood.
Nye net worth of $6.5 million and Nye was given $70,000 to show up for a debate
You are digging yourself eve deeper into your "dumb hole". Sedimentary rocks are forming any place that sediment (aka "mud") settles out of water. Go take a third grade geology class...
So tell me those Processes.
Bill Nye to debate creation activist online Tuesday ... before the event, for which the museum is paying Nye expenses plus a fee. The museum would not disclose the fee, but Nye’s normal speaking fee is $50,000 to $75,000, ...
I’ll let Wikipedia do that for you. Search for “rock cycle.”
