Democracy is starting to get me down.
Oh, I know what you're thinking: I write regularly about American politics, and democracy is only just starting to get me down?
Okay, good point. Maybe I should say that democracy is starting to get me down even more than it usually does.
And why is that? Because it's beginning to dawn on me that Jeb Bush is probably going to be the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2016.
Consider: With the ongoing implosion of Chris Christie's political career, the GOP establishment has lost its best hope for a candidate who could stop a libertarian-populist insurgency during the primaries. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker the list of viable fire-breathers is longer (and less dominated by incompetents, crazies, and one-note sideshow acts) than establishment types would like.
What are the alternatives?

Well then, we get another Democrat.
I won’t vote for a RINO.
Jebbie can take the March 4 nomination of George P. in Texas and propel that to a turnaround in family fortunes. Then he can be the 2016 nominee without our votes and lose, maybe winning just a dozen smaller states, possibly not even TX.
It would be your own party people engaging in this treachery out of being able to recognize a famous name.
This is BS.
I believe the Tea Party was willing to stand aside for one RINO (Romney).
Next time that won’t happen.
So I’d see that outcome as:
45 - Hillary
30 - Bush
25 - Tea
Ironic that like her dear husband BJ, Hillary would win with the famous “Clintonian plurality”
He would be a better fit on the democrat ticket.
If that’s the case, then count me out.
Golly, I know I’ve probably said this before, but dammit, getting to the end of my string, I agree !
I agree. BS.
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Sheesh.
The RATs want him to run..propaganda machine already spinning
Somtimes ya just have to spit. If it’s Jeb, I have no one to vote for in the two major parties.
no no no and no.
Ain’t votin’ RINO no mo’ no mo’.
.....Molly Ivins
JB = Guaranteed looser.
The problem is that while liberals vote Democrat every time (they’d vote for Hitler if he was the only Democrat candidate), conservatives won’t vote if the candidate smells just a little too liberal. So now we’re losing every election. Are we really better off with Obama than we would have been with Romney? Ironically, it’s the most conservative of us that allowed Obama to stay in office.
The establishment blew its wad in 2012. And they revealed all their games. And they going to try to rig the game again by changing the rules.
But the Bush name is a little long in the tooth. George Bush wanted to be vice-president when Spiro Agnew resigned, but Nixon picked Ford. Then he wanted to be vice-president when Ford became president, but Ford chose Nelson Rockefeller. Then he wanted to be the vice-presidential nominee in 1976, but Ford picked Bob Dole. Then he ran for president himself in 1980 but Reagan got the nomination and finally he was made vice-president. So he was on the national ticket in ‘80, ‘84, ‘88, and ‘92. Then his son was on the national ticket in ‘00 and ‘04.
I sincerely hope the people have had their fill of the Bush family’s lust for power!
I would hold my nose and vote for Christie or even Romney again nut smother damned Bush - NEVER!!
That clan of bastards destroyed Reagan’s legacy and America with it and set the stage for Clinton and Obama.
