A well-respected constitutional expert is blasting President Obamas unprecedented abuse of powers, and has decribed him as worse than Richard Nixon. He even goes so far as to call him the most un-American president in the history of the nation.
The words of an arch-conservative? Hardly. The warnings of a liberal icon.
Nat Hentoff, historian, novelist and syndicated columnist, is not a fan of Barack Obama. In fact, Hentoff says its time to consider impeachment citing Obamas tendency to resort to executive orders or actions whenever his proposals are rejected by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
Apparently he doesnt give one damn about the separation of power. Never before in our history has a president done these things.
The executive power abuse issue most recently made the headlines last week when Obama said: Ive got a pen
and I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions.

I’m not sure Henthoff is a liberal. Maybe a libertarian? I’m not a student of his work or even a regular reader, but when I do ready him I’ve often found myself agreeing with him or at the very least acknowledging that he argues logically. I’m pretty darn conservative and I don’t tolerate irrational or emotionally hysterical arguments.
Surely we don’t have to fuss over the classic definition of the word, “liberal”, do we, as applied to Nat, the “liberal icon” exactly described in the title?
And surely we don’t have to pole vault for a snark, to reach some bizarre extrapolation of the word “snit”, by applying it to “30 years” of opposition to abortion and then sticking a question mark on the tail.
Insulting, actually, which should tell you that I am pro-LIFE, making hard to appreciate your humor.
1) A liberal isn’t necessarily a leftist.
2) The GOP prolly wants to get past the Obama era without incident thinking it will have paid its obligatory race-card fees.
Yes, no doubt many key congresscritters are under influence of blackmail.

Yeah -- until the guy with the sword swings it at the guy with the pen...
What's with saying he's having a "snit" over Obama? He seems to have made a serious moral and political judgment against his unconstitutional policies.
“I wish I could do something about the current depressing state of America, but it seems beyond my control.”
Careful, a Don Quixote minded freeper will be along any second urging you to vote even harder and to take over your local Republican party.
Nat is a self proclaimed athiest, who works both ends of the political spectrum for a check. (This makes him a thinker’s thinker—some kind of genius, I guess.)
Presently he chirps for our side, but would I share a fox hole under fire with him—”No”. Would I go to the mat for him—”No”.
If no one minds, I’ll let Nat finish his evolving.
My opinion is that the members of Congress don’t give a damn about the country, our security, our Constitution, or our security. It’s all about THEM and getting reelected so they can suck more and more until they’re so senile they don’t know where they are anymore. They service each other while sucking every dime they can out of lobbyists and the American taxpayers. Their God is their Elitist egos and feeding their quest for power to the exclusion of everything else especially what’s good for the country, wanna bet?
I think that you have pretty well nailed it, Ma’am.
I was genuinely hoping I'd learn of an actual liberal icon who was criticizing Obama. I should have known better.
Totally agree
It sounds like he’s offended you.
I don’t know or follow Hentoff, so can’t say he has ever offended me.
I have no idea how many parts per gallon that Nat H. is both a self-professed athiest and a “liberal icon”, and what parts he is conservative. Conservative icon was just not a part of the title. Your issue might be better taken up with the columnist who wrote the title and called him a liberal icon.
For me, athiest thinking in general is suspect, though I admit that even a stopped clock can be right twice a day. Kudos to Nat, twice a day. :)
Who knows, maybe by now he's a disciple of Jesus Christ Our Lord. I have been putting the invisible prayer beams on him :o)

Howdy, stranger! Nice to see you out and about, exercising your inherent God-given Second Amendment privileges.
See you, around my dear, Yellow Rose of Texas! :-)
:) Nat is a lucky boy to have your prayer beams.
Nat turns 89 today.
