How far will the government go to infringe on your rights?
In San Francisco, residents arent even allowed to store their own belongings in their home.
Residents of the liberal city are banned from using their garage to store any personal property other than a vehicle. Chapter Six of the San Francisco Housing Code states, Private and public storage garages in apartment houses and hotels shall be used only for storage of automobiles. Those who violate the law can be slapped with a $500 fine.

Good one but quite a stretch IMO.
The intent of this, like the intent of everything leftists do, is control. Leftists desire, and leftism requires, that the State exercise total control over every aspect of your life, great and small. Nothing may be outside the State, nothing may be against the State, everything must be directed by the State.
Bingo.
If your annual income is $46,000, you can afford to live in San Francisco. Apparently, the costs go up if you own a rake.
Wouldn’t SF be a better place if they banned storage of automobiles (evil carbon) and used the garages for housing the homeless?
Do it “for the children”.
That's what the chest freezer in the basement is for!
Who keeps their guns in the garage?...............Not that it would be a problem for San Fransickos..................
And the rules for using your parking space were just as strict (albeit administered by the property management co., and not the government). Parking spaces were for cars . . . if you wanted to use yours for storing junk, it was taken away and the parking spot given to someone (with a car) on the waiting list.
Exactly. Guaranteed whoever wrote this law has a big financial incentive in those downtown storage buildings.
how about that case of oil and box of spare parts?
It says apartment house and hotels not private houses ..I take that to mean parking stalls not enclosed garage... that being said most apartment ive lived in have had a built in storage locker on the back wall of the parking stall and you were no allowed to stack your crap in the open in the back of the stall
dam it free republice really really need an edit after you post feature like almost ever other board does
Follow the money is an Occam’s Razor when it comes to politics.
I was thinking more about renting your garage converted to an apartment to the newly arrived from Mexico.
pretty soon they will outlaw anythign they can see through your windows too...
Everyone MUST paint their walls white~! (after a hefty campaign contribution from the white paint manufacturers)
“Get a warrant you nosey bastards!”
We had a family in our neighborhood that enclosed their garage and made it a playroom for the kids,,all internal, left the garage door in place. There were no windows in the room.
Last I heard they got fined by the city fire dept because the only way out of that room was through the kitchen...there were no external doors. So it was considered a fire hazard.
Every house is different. I’ve seen people remove the door and build a nice wall with a window,,all kinds of things.
Also, I know of at last one subdivision in the Austin area that does not allow anything in the garage but a car...that would be Riverplace,,and all the cars must be parked in the garage. I don’t know how families with more cars than garage space are managed.
Where in hell are they gonna store their weed now?.....................
exactly
Those that voted for this have homes.
The addresses are known.
What happens next is up to those who are ready to make waves.
Good luck.
