Neither is there authority for congressional mandates to citizens about what type of health insurance they must purchase, how states and people may use their land, the speed at which they can drive, whether a library has wheelchair ramps, and the gallons of water used per toilet flush. Our derelict Supreme Court has given Congress sanction to do just about anything for which they can muster a majority vote.

James Madison, the acknowledged father of the Constitution, explained in Federalist Paper No. 45: "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State."

Amen, amen, amen. I've been trying to hammer these points home for a long, long time.

Walter Williams must be reading the minds of every patriot in the country. Those four distinct outcomes are at the forefront of all of our thoughts these days.

I've contemplated them all, and like Walter Williams, I'd most prefer the fourth outcome in the list. I just don't see how we as a nation can get there, with half the population desiring a totalitarian Socialist system of government. They're never going to allow the rest of us to peacefully restore the nation to its constitutional moorings. In fact, the other side has done everything in their power to subvert the civil system to prevent that outcome.

What to do? We have to choose one of those paths and follow it with full self determination. If we don't choose one of those solutions and push toward realizing it, we will wind up in a situation that resembles a full blown Marxist dictatorship (and I don't mean the soft tyranny of Obama).

If we can't pull off the most desired outcome (and it looks more and more like we can't), then I'd say the next best solution is a peaceful separation.

Of course, secession by several red states would produce quite a lot of dislocation and social disturbance, but I don't see the type of federal response the nation witnessed in 1861. There simply isn't the political will to murder millions of fellow Americans over a purely political question of secession.

If you ask a dog and his fleas to vote on whether or not to maintain their relationship, nobody wonders how that vote will go.

I’m perfectly willing to split the country right down the middle. They can have any half they want. Left, right, top, bottom, middle, edges.... I care not, just as long as I don’t have to live with parasites. But parasites do not willingly leave their hosts. Blood will need to be shed.

The commies would never go along with it. They need our money to sustain themselves for any length of time, like they are doing now. Almost all of the non-contributors are leftist libtards sucking government teat endlessly. They fail supremely and quickly without us.

It's not that they lack the ability to become contributing citizens, they lack the willingness to do so.

So, we're still facing violent means to affect any change.

I think this is the highest profile commentator I’ve read put it this bluntly. Those of us who want freedom, and understand that to be Man’s natural state, are running out of patience. There are just too many of us who won’t be pacified by Big Macs and cable tv.
