There Are Irreconciliable Differences Between Liberty-Loving Americans and Leftists
Newsbusters ^ | 1/2/2014 | Walter E. Williams

Here's a question that I've asked in the past that needs to be revisited. Unless one wishes to obfuscate, it has a simple yes or no answer. If one group of people prefers strong government control and management of people's lives while another group prefers liberty and desires to be left alone, should they be required to enter into conflict with one another and risk bloodshed and loss of life in order to impose their preferences on the other group? Yes or no. My answer is no; they should be able to peaceably part company and go their separate ways.

The problem our nation faces is very much like a marriage in which one partner has an established pattern of ignoring and breaking the marital vows. Moreover, the offending partner has no intention to mend his ways. Of course, the marriage can remain intact while one party tries to impose his will on the other and engages in the deviousness of one-upsmanship and retaliation. Rather than domination or submission by one party, or domestic violence, a more peaceable alternative is separation.

I believe our nation is at a point where there are enough irreconcilable differences between those Americans who want to control other Americans and those Americans who want to be left alone that separation is the only peaceable alternative. Just as in a marriage where vows are broken, our rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have been grossly violated by a government instituted to protect them. These constitutional violations have increased independent of whether there's been a Democrat-controlled Washington or a Republican-controlled Washington.

There is no evidence that Americans who are responsible for and support constitutional abrogation have any intention of mending their ways. You say, "Williams, what do you mean by constitutional abrogation?" Let's look at the magnitude of the violations.

Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution lists the activities for which Congress is authorized to tax and spend. Nowhere on that list is there authority for Congress to tax and spend for: Medicare, Social Security, public education, farm subsidies, bank and business bailouts, food stamps and thousands of other activities that account for roughly two-thirds of the federal budget. Neither is there authority for congressional mandates to citizens about what type of health insurance they must purchase, how states and people may use their land, the speed at which they can drive, whether a library has wheelchair ramps, and the gallons of water used per toilet flush. The list of congressional violations of both the letter and spirit of the Constitution is virtually without end. Our derelict Supreme Court has given Congress sanction to do just about anything for which they can muster a majority vote.

James Madison, the acknowledged father of the Constitution, explained in Federalist Paper No. 45: "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State." Our founder's constitutional vision of limited federal government has been consigned to the dustbin of history.

Americans have several options. We can like sheep submit to those who have contempt for liberty and our Constitution. We can resist, fight and risk bloodshed and death in an attempt to force America's tyrants to respect our liberties and Constitution. A superior alternative is to find a way to peaceably separate into states whose citizens respect liberty and the Constitution. My personal preference is a restoration of the constitutional values of limited government that made us a great nation.

we have to end compromising.

compromising never gets us closer to our long term goals.

it always gets the libs closer to their long term goals.

enough. no more. fght for principles or step down and let someone who wants to, fight.

‘Leftists will never allow us outside of their grip’

The only strategy that has a chance of working is organized civil disobedience. It takes a lot of regular people who are fed up enough to be willing to sacrifice a lot and be brutalized. Tougher than the civil rights demonstrators as the elite culture and the media were on their side and a lot of politicos were as well for various reasons. (Note CD does not mean that complete nonviolence and pacifism is required. Hated institutions such as the IRS might find they have so much property damage that they have to exist as fortified enclaves. This becomes a very demoralizing existence in short order.)

First we have to seperate ourselves from the enemy within our own ranks that demands compromise and you can go on any so called conservative forum on the net and see ‘conservatives’ repeatedly attack and minimize the idea of solid, principled stance.

And we all know thats the truth, So when do we take charge of what we claim to believe in?

Walter Williams must be reading the minds of every patriot in the country. Those four distinct outcomes are at the forefront of all of our thoughts these days.

I've contemplated them all, and like Walter Williams, I'd most prefer the fourth outcome in the list. I just don't see how we as a nation can get there, with half the population desiring a totalitarian Socialist system of government. They're never going to allow the rest of us to peacefully restore the nation to its constitutional moorings. In fact, the other side has done everything in their power to subvert the civil system to prevent that outcome.

What to do? We have to choose one of those paths and follow it with full self determination. If we don't choose one of those solutions and push toward realizing it, we will wind up in a situation that resembles a full blown Marxist dictatorship (and I don't mean the soft tyranny of Obama).

If we can't pull off the most desired outcome (and it looks more and more like we can't), then I'd say the next best solution is a peaceful separation.

Of course, secession by several red states would produce quite a lot of dislocation and social disturbance, but I don't see the type of federal response the nation witnessed in 1861. There simply isn't the political will to murder millions of fellow Americans over a purely political question of secession.

Liberty loving conservative Christian valued Americans can get along fine without liberals, and prosper doing it.

Conversely liberals wouldn’t survive a year without us.

Which is why secession by the red states is the quickest way back to a restored constitutional republic.

If we left the union, the blue states would come crawling back, begging for re-unification in less than a decade. They'll starve without the tax blood of the productive states.

And when they do come calling with hat in hand, WE will set the terms of restoring the union.

Only one problem though. There is less than zero percent chance of the left willingly giving up the source of it’s power...our cash...that would go away with peaceful seperation.

Just look at how Cali tries collecting state tax on former residents. Thats exactly the ‘deal’ they would offer. “You can leave but pay us forever for your loss. That way we keep on truckin at your expense”

They might not be willing, but how would they stop us? Through brute force? Our military couldn't beat down a bunch of poorly trained jihadists in Iraq over ten years, and we've achieved nothing against the goat humpers in Afghanistan since 2001.

Just how are they going to contain millions of armed and angry Americans?

The left doesn't have the stomach for a real fight -- on their own soil -- and against their own countrymen. They may as well disband the U.S. military, than order martial law. That's the result they'd get if such an order were ever given.

IMO they will do whatever liberalism tells them will succeed. Like Obamacare. Damn the torpedos and human life means nothing.

Sure they’ll lose. Horribly. No question. Like a thousand times before. their world is a castle on sand. But they will do it. Because they are even more evil and doubly as stupid as any of us ever imagine. History ALWAYS repeats. ALWAYS.

They will Reichstag something as usual, they will slaughter tens of thousands as usual. We will cower as a whole as usual. Many of us wont and will be made examples of as usual. More will die, as usual, people will rise up as usual, the country will collapse as usual, they will be overwhelmen in the chaos as usual and then we win.

As usual.

Missed one ;)

The military is a 3 part issue. One, they were restrained by PC bullshit. The ONLY readon for the Afghan situation.

Part 2. The purge of the brass is nearly complete, policies have gutted rank and file morale and most of the good men are out or on the way out voluntarily.

Third, the remanants AT THIS TIME are in numbers larger that ever before Obama supporters. No, not all. But it is the direct result of his push to rid the ranks of constitutional Americans and install boot lickers.

It’s the time immemorial way to conquer from within. Just ask any current serviceman id the above isn’t the case? Its just a matter of time before, the word is given and our military turns on itself. He put the pieces in place for that very thing for a reason.

Yes, the American military has been hand cuffed and hobbled for forty years now, and it's been the left setting the chains on them all that time. Like I said, their kind doesn't have the heart for real warfare.

Just look at their performance on the national and world stage over the last several decades. They're a bunch of emasculated, wussified, pajama boys. If this country's very survival were on the line, they wouldn't know how to give the order to fire on the enemy.

And I'm supposed to think they're going to suddenly turn badass when a few red states decide to exercise their God-given right to leave a political association that no longer serves them?

Part 2. The purge of the brass is nearly complete, policies have gutted rank and file morale and most of the good men are out or on the way out voluntarily.

It's just as well. Those who are now being edged out of the military, are patriots who wouldn't obey a martial law order anyway. I think it's better that they're now free to stand with real Americans, should the need arise.

Third, the remanants AT THIS TIME are in numbers larger that ever before Obama supporters. No, not all. But it is the direct result of his push to rid the ranks of constitutional Americans and install boot lickers.

And those boot lickers will be commanded by even worse boot lickers who couldn't do three Marine Corps pull ups if their lives depended on it. Nazis like those don't stand a chance against an armed population of angry and determined patriots defending their homes and families. Their only hope is to disarm us first - and that's never going to happen. Too bad - so sad - game over before it's even started.

Norm, I just don’t believe they have the heart for such a fight. Show me one piece of evidence that the current left has an ounce of guts. Just one.

These ain’t your granddaddy’s Bolsheviks. They’re a bunch of light-in-the-loafers, latte sipping, BMW driving, Gaia worshiping, pot smoking, pervert loving, head-in-the-clouds, juveniles.

Take a good hard look at who they attack, and who they bow down to. Anyone who shows them that they’re willing to kill for what they believe in, is endlessly kowtowed to. They know better than to f*** with such people.

No, they only attack those who they believe to be safe targets. Like us. As soon as we move over to the other column, the left is going to fold like the thumb sucking wussies they are.

Do not fear these people. They don’t even rate as paper tigers.

“Norm, I just don’t believe they have the heart for such a fight. Show me one piece of evidence that the current left has an ounce of guts. Just one.”

4 Americans offed in Benghazi, A whole bunch of SEALs offed in the Stan. God knows how many Mexicans via Fast and Furious, Drone strikes wherever he chooses killing anything that moves on command.

A fully militarized police force that will check your prostate and shoot your dog, kick in your door and hold granny on the floor at gunpoint will kill you on command.

Shall I go on?

From where I’m sitting, I’d say they have very little issue with killing people.

Also Airplanes falling out of the sky in his current vacation spot with potentially troublesome persons in them, supposed former homosexual sex toys mysteriously die of lead poisoning, right wing media barons dropping dead at strange times, left wing reporters going off the grid who plan to expose info die in fiery car crashes on the way to airports...

And thats all off the top of my head. Who knows how much we havent heard about. Personally, the one thing I believe that he ever said is “I’m getting really good at killing people.”

There is little time.

Structural changes are needed to our government. That means a return to federalism, a diffusion of authority back toward fifty state legislatures. As long as power is undiluted in Washington DC our slide into hard tyranny is assured.

Is there any divorced Freeper who regrets his or her divorce?

I doubt it.

I certainly don’t but my ex does as she can no longer ‘mooch’ on me. And I think the same thing would happen here. The moochers would get real hungry and remember the ‘good’ times. And would decide that the divorce settlement really wasn’t very ‘fair’ after all and now they deserve Alimony too.
