In truth, you’d laugh at the amount we have, though its the most we’ve had by this time in the last five years.
Typically February is when we start getting nailed around here.

OK, I want it clear that not a single word of this is made up. The new grill is a table-top thing because the old one was 25 years old and just flat corroded away. Good luck finding anything like that on New Year's Eve but the tabletop one was a great compromise and I can use it camping, right.
So there I was, the grill on a little table out back, cooking away nicely, when a gust of wind came along (it's snowing in northern Idaho) and the whole shootin' match did a half-gainer into the ground below, still merrily cooking.
I'm invoking the five-second rule on the steak and didn't see too much grit when I washed it off, so we're good. The potato is fine inasmuch as it was actually cooked a couple of days ago and microwaved to perfection. The grill is a little dented but fine.
The Sandpoint Rural Fire Department says they've seen worse. Not usually outside of a refinery fire, but worse. Can I cook or what?
Happy New Year!

Didn't have to work tonight, so am watching a bit of Fox News for a change. Mighty cold here, but I have my sausage, cheese and crackers for snacks.

At least all I have to do is take the Pacific Northwest smoked salmon out of the plastic wrapper.
Tomorrow I make my annual New Years treat, my Sicilian Cod Stew from my paternal grandmother's recipe. No fire there! (My stove is electric.)
And then my other New Years treat, five hours of the Metropolitan Opera's DVD of Wagner's "Die Meistersinger". I kid you not! I'm not football fan, so it's opera for me.

I do! The kitties cuddled with me all day as I slept instead of doing all the things I needed to be doing. They love me. :)
....or they love being on the bed. Whatever! LOL!

I'm not football fan, so it's opera for me. These days the difference is blurred. Opera is the one with the folks in funny costumes emoting grandly...wait, that's football. Never mind.
The steak is actually cooked to perfection. I didn't really call the fire department. The grill...well, the dents give it character. But I'm never gonna do it that way again.
The problem, I think, is alcohol. Not enough.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The Moody Blues: "All That is Real is You" I think this is the first time that Justin Hayward worked in triple time. The time signature is a rolling 6/8. Catch the bleed-in at the beginning. It sounds like an old sailor's song.
