We were flat out wrong."
Thats the message Cracker Barrel is sending to enraged customers after the restaurant chain removed Duck Dynasty items from its stores over fears it might offend people.
Our intent was to avoid offending but thats just what weve done, Cracker Barrel said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. You told us we made a mistake. And, you werent shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings.
One of those customers was Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. He said his family has eaten in nearly every Cracker Barrel in the country.
Cracker Barrel must be off their rocker, he said in a statement to Fox News. For Cracker Barrel to take the bait of an organization like GLAAD, which has led the attack on Phil Robertson, they are betraying the values of the vast majority of their customers.

I’m officially done with Cracker Barrel and A&E. I have tons of other restaurants to go to and lots of tv stations to go to. Too late for both of them. Cracker Barrel can go to hell.
Oh Yeah. Really.
WEAK response. Weak as dishwater.
What a shame. A $2.29bil company that has seen share price just about double in the last year.
Somebody needs to go and it needs to be public.
I went to CB Facebook page and congratulated them for coming to their senses. I also suggested that they now just carry “Duck Commander” merchandise since “Duck Dynasty” merchandise puts money in A&E’s pocket.
You ought to at least consider rethinking your position on CB.
Do you really want to react the same to A&E, which has not recanted, as to CB, which has?
The prodigal son seems to apply here, to some extent.
Decency? Are you kidding? They did it for MONEY!
It was complete lack of common sense that caused them to do this in the first place.
Sorry . . . I can hold a grudge with the best of them, and since there's many, many other restaurants I can go to, CB can go to hell.
Obviously by Cracker Barrels initial reaction some people are more equal then others.
If he has learned anything at all the polishing has already begun, in earnest.
Apparently someone pointed out that all those nicely dressed folks that come in on Sunday to eat after church let out were not in fact members of GLAAD

“All they had to do regarding this situation is what they were doing the day before Phil said what he said.”
Nomination for post of the day on this subject.
Maybe if CB makes a large . . . very large contribution to Right to Life I might consider eating there . . . but not until. They owe us this one.
I need to collect the sensible, principled and pithy quotes on this subject.
Yours goes into the selection.
Cracker Barrel finally got that memo from A&E, who advised them to keep selling the Duck Dynasty merchandise as it benefited them...and A^E is losing money from the boycott.
We must avoid all these liars and deceivers for the unforeseeable future. Speaking with the wallet works!
‘Zactly!
And the next company that makes a mistake will know that admitting it and undoing it will have absolutely no benefit to them.
Once someone has chosen the other side, you will insure that they have absolutely no incentive nor any ability to rejoin your side.
Is that the message you want to send?
You win that skirmish, guess who wins the war.
The side you supplied with troops who are dead to you...
I guess Cracker Barrels decision to begin selling Duck Dynasty Merchandise shows GLAAD just how weak, limp, and impotent they really are.
