Cracker Barrel: We screwed up big time
FoxNews ^ | 12/22/2013 | Todd Starnes

“We were flat out wrong."

That’s the message Cracker Barrel is sending to enraged customers after the restaurant chain removed Duck Dynasty items from its stores over fears it might offend people.

“Our intent was to avoid offending but that’s just what we’ve done,” Cracker Barrel said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings.”

One of those customers was Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. He said his family has eaten in nearly every Cracker Barrel in the country.

“Cracker Barrel must be off their rocker,” he said in a statement to Fox News. “For Cracker Barrel to take the bait of an organization like GLAAD, which has led the attack on Phil Robertson, they are betraying the values of the vast majority of their customers.”

Well said. Societal reformation has to start in homes and churches.

Watch, Errant, for the spiritual blowback to you which will result.

Or, YOU could repent.

Don't worry friend. Just because I said forever, doesn't really mean forever. But it is does mean it will likely take some time before all is forgiven, as I'm still working on my ability in that department.

You do make a good point but there are times when a harden stance is best for all in the long run, if for nothing more than a warning to others to think twice before attacking.

It is getting easier to vote with my dollars when I am being singled out for my religion and beliefs. I will stand with someone who has been wrongly condemned for their Christian beliefs.

Cracker Barrel does have good fried okra, collards and cornbread though.

Don’t try to understand or debate.

Some cheese just won’t stay on the cracker. So to speak.

How is it that some are always so expert at telling others when they should forgive and repent? Why do they just naturally presume that repentance is necessary? And does it seem that the natural reaction of some to criticism is to tell the criticizer to clean up themselves or repent?

How is it that some are always so expert at telling others when they should forgive and repent?

Some people just have a natural tendency to direct others to that which they have weighed to be the correct thing to do.

Likewise, most of us weigh things differently. Honest debate about our differences of opinion is not a bad thing. A problem arises when some would have us shut up and not say anything negative about their beliefs and even punish us if we do so. That is what happened in this case. Kind of hard to debate a subject when only one side is allowed to do so. In this case, a debate has turned into a fight, not about the subject, but the right to have a say so on the matter.

Thousands have died for the rights we Americans still enjoy today. I would think any business that joins the side of those wishing to prevent us from exercising our rights, had better think twice about the fact that we still have a choice in America of whom we patronize.

“New on the Cracker Barrel Menu: CROW! How STUPID ARE these business owners?”

They are conditioned by years of PC shoved at them by a TINY minority of “activists”. The “activists” freeze them and whip up “outrage” against them while the rest of the world sort of looks up from whatever they are doing and says ‘huh’ and then goes back to business. CB thought they would mouth their lines and be off the hook. Guess that “anger” that has been building is beginning to manifest. Guess it ain’t yesterday anymore...

You are wrong. And yours is the exact WRONG response. CB should be rewarded for coming to their senses and fixing a stupid decision — not punished. How do you think a record 2014 Q1 sales number would look? It would show the GLAAD crowd that their supposed “power” is imaginary. Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.

Another wrong reaction. They apologized, and fixed it. VERY quickly. Chick-FIl-A has had record sales over the past year. What if CB did the same over the next year? Money talks, and a surge in sales after publicly reversing and supporting DD would demonstrate just how weak GLAAD really is.

It was a half-heated apology. They didn’t mention Phil Robertson or his first amendment rights.

CB willingly and needlessly collaborated with the gay lobby and showed their true colors. Now they want to take it all back. FUCB

I can find someplace else to eat

Yes, you can but should you. A company rushing to judgment in protecting customers from being offended must be able to regain your confidence when they correct their mistake. If they can’t do that then what is the point in making the correction.

I have little respect for a company that bows to the slightest pressure from the politically correct. I do not support the doctrine of political correctness. However, when that company retracts the position it took with no pulled punches in its apology I can’t help but forgive. “Trust but verify” may satisfy you.

Political correctness is fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

“Another wrong reaction. They apologized, and fixed it. VERY quickly.”

The problem is that they feared the gay lobby more than they did normal Americans. We have to change that. If they cross us they have to reap the whirlwind. Firing a high level manager would show their sincerity.

While there was a famous Frenchman that said, “You, sir, may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you,”

My recollection is that it was the ancient Greek statesman, Pericles, who said that.
