Firefighters mistakenly pump jet fuel on fire instead of water

The Washington State Patrol is investigating a serious mishap at its fire training academy in North Bend. During a training exercise, firefighters mistakenly pumped jet fuel instead of water onto a flaming mock-up of an airplane crash.

Ummmmmmm. No. That's not what happened. Stupid journalists are reporting on exactly what DID happen, and they still get it wrong.

The separator that removes fuel and oil from the water so it can be recycled failed. They were trying to be environmentally friendly and recycle water they use for training and prevent oil/gas from getting in the watershed.
Sounds exciting and looks impressive, but not that big of a deal IMO. Glad nobody was seriously hurt and I am sure they will double check their water - something your local fire truck probably won’t have to worry about.

That’s why firemen have training sessions. You know, to avoid those little mistakes like pumping jet fuel instead of water onto a REAL airplane fire instead of just a mockup.

Well, those left coasters couldn't figure out which hose to use. Should I pick the left one, which contains the fuel. Or the right one which contains the retardant. Since they're practically all left leaning, guess which one they chose.

I went to the link and watched the news video.
It appears somehow jet fuel, and/or jet fuel residue, was in the line that should have just been water.
Someone other than the firefighter trainees screwed up here.
