WASHINGTON, DC - Police say they are investigating the two women punched in the head in Columbia Heights on Thursday and Friday as simple assaults. But the victims wonder if they were targets of the Knockout game.
It's a game being played by teens in some cities where groups of people attack innocent victims, with the intention of knocking them out with one sucker punch.
The most recent assault in the District occurred Thursday night. Phoebe Connolly, in town from Vermont, was riding her bike up 11th Street NW near Cardozo High School. She encountered a group of several teens standing on their bikes in the street.
When she tried to ride by, one of them punched her in the nose. A friend told Connolly it sounded like the Knockout game. Connolly googled and discovered another woman had been a victim Thursday night on 14th Street in Columbia Heights.
Fox 5 spoke to that woman, who doesn't want to be identified....

Buffalo Holster Company is what it says.
I’m with you.
From what I see, those knockout guys don't confront a person, they run up from behind. Wait until some White guy has a gun out and kills a few of them; they you'll hear about it for sure. Also, my nephew said in many places back east, pistols are illegal, nobody has a 1911 on their belt. That's hard to even fathom in Alaska?
She may have been thinking, “They won’t hurt me. I have an Obama sticker on my bike.” Ditto the NYC Democrat congresswoman who was knocked down and robbed in SE DC the other day.
Hmmm! Why don’t more people in Washington, D.C. get concealed carry permits and carry guns?
or one of their loved ones killed or severely disabled....
you know they take any white kids flimsy talk about violence and they conjure up a huge Littleton massacre and put him away for all kinds of things when the kid never actually did anything...
yet these animals attacking innocents and they call it a "game" as in, checkers or chess.....
I’ll stick with a handgun and a 300+ lumen flashlight.
Very funny.
They're predators. They look for the weak and unprepared. They like to have 3 to 1 superiority and they're confident the vic is unarmed.
That’s it.
If anyone tries the knockout game on me, they die.
PS Been mugged twice. Or rather, two punks have tried to mug me. Did not go the way they expected...
It would be so cool if you could have a hat that detects fast moving objects and flips a shield covered with short spikes over your face. Put some padding on the inside to cushion the blow. An airbag with spikes.
Actually, the usual MO is to casually approach on the sidewalk as if just walking the other direction, then swing without warning.
IOW, it's a surprise attack and the only way to prevent it by armed action is to shoot before the attack starts, which would be considered utterly unjustified in every state in the country. Or be fast enough to dodge the swing, draw and fire. Which is I suppose possible.
The most likely outcome of this story is that some white person will shoot a black guy he/she thinks is planning such an attack. Possibly accurately, maybe not.
It will be claimed the black guy was utterly innocent, and it might even be true. Mass moaning and wailing over "walking while black" will follow.
This is taking place where victims have been disarmed!!
Being armed is not relly a defense. The numerous videos clearly show the attacks come from concealment (behind) and are so sudden there is no time for reaction
I would pay good money to watch if it spreads to the White House and the Capital Building...!
The defense comes in the perp knowing if he fails to get the knockout he might die!!!
Yes. She is a stupid, smug white person who was riding a bike, by herself, at 10 o’clock at night in THAT PART OF TOWN (well, really, anywhere in DC at that time of night).
Stay out of range...
