Pakistan’s government plans to put former President Pervez Musharraf on trial for treason for declaring a state of emergency and suspending the constitution while in power, the interior minister said Sunday.

Musharraf, a former army chief, would be the first military ruler tried for treason in a country that has experienced three military coups in its 66-year history. He could face the death penalty or life in prison if he is convicted of treason, but some question whether the country’s powerful army actually will let that happen. Musharraf has maintained his innocence. …

It's a shame the United States won't do the same to the traitor who has systematically violated our Bill of rights for the past five years.

“Would that it could happen in this country.”

Is suspending and ignoring the same? Oh, well—either way it would be nice to see.

In my book, willful ignoring the enforcement of laws is the same as suspending them, particularly when they are ignored to suit one’s needs on a political basis. As far as I’m concerned, he is no better than the former two-bit Paki leader.

So suspending an Islamic constitution is as bad as ignoring the Constitution set up by the USA’s Founding Fathers?

Islamic Constitution notwithstanding he is charged with ignoring and ruining it. Just like our leader here is doing with our Constitution. My comment was that I wish Obama could be similarly charged, and for that I don’t have to equate one against the other in terms of relative value.

Pakistan America to try ex-President Musharraf Obama for treason

If only we could wake up from this nightmare and reacquaint ourselves with sanity.

This is just so wrong....He kept that stupid country together for much longer than predicted. But it’s a Muslim country...it’s what they do....kill...eliminate...just like Hitler.

The United States does not try people for Treason.

We make them successful movie stars and confirm them as Secretary of State.

Nice defense of an Islamic constitution. The right thing to do is to suspend those.

And you apparently missed the point. It was a defense of nothing. You only want to argue.

Could you clarify what I missed? I really don’t see any comparison between suspending an Islamic constitution and flouting the US Constitution. I really do not see the former as treason. Perhaps I’m old-fashioned, but I see what Muhammad Ali Jinnah did as treason and I don’t recognize the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

So far the have “arrested” Musharraf a few times; meaning they've asked him nicely to stay in his heavily fortified compound with his regiment of bodyguards. What ever civilian government official would try and order his actual incarceration would be signing their own resignation or worse.

Since Pakistan's military controls the economy I've no doubt that Musharraf still holds many more strings than the people with official government titles.

Once we leave Afghanistan and the gravy train dries up a civilian government has almost no chance for survival. They'll be Islamist or military ruled in less than a year.
