A Texas Republican plans to introduce a resolution of Articles of Impeachment for Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday.
Rep. Pete Olsons (R-Texas) office said this morning that this was not a decision made lightly, but comes with Holders pattern of disregard for the rule of law and refusal to be forthright with Congress and the American people since being held in contempt in June 2012.
That 255-67 vote on criminal contempt, which included 17 Democrats, was tied to the Fast and Furious scandal and marked the first time Congress has found an attorney general in contempt. A measure of civil contempt then passed the House 258-95.
The impeachment measure will reportedly hit at Fast and Furious again, as well as the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups and spying on reporters.
According to Fox News, House GOP leadership and the Judiciary Committee, helmed by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), are not on board with Olsons effort. The Senate would have to convict Holder should the House vote for impeachment.
Original co-sponsors will be Reps. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.), Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.), Larry Buschon (R-Ind.), Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Randy Weber (R-Texas) and Roger Williams (R-Texas).
Olson is a member of the Republican Study Committee, a caucus of House conservatives.
That’s exactly right-—atack on every front possible. Make them keep their heads on a swivel. There appears to be some swivelling going on. I notice just this morning that Jarrett has come out talking which is a break from the old silent treatment they usually give us. Could be she’s telling the Kenyan to shut the bleep up-—she can handle this?
Pete is my congressman, I am actually shocked he is in the middle of this...
He must be up for re-election...;-)
Also, Randy Weber used to be a Precinct Chair friend of mine, before he launched into the big leagues...
No matter where this goes, it is a long time in the making...
Those GOP-e’s resisting this need to be publically flogged...Bunch of cowards!!!
Someone should remind Olson that Holder is Black, and therefore has no need to respect, or even obey, the law.
“exactly... this is picking the wrong target... what a ninny.”
Unfortunately, some court somewhere will just rule that Congress does not have STANDING to impeach Eric withHolder!
Ozzy fans unite!
Agree. More power to him.
You said,
“He will be impeached in 24 business hours.”
OK, let’s assume you’re right. How will it play out?
How long will it take for Harry Reid to convene the Senate and ACQUIT Holder? 24 hours? 24 minutes? 24 seconds?
And THEN, even with a Republican-controlled Senate after 2015, Holder will get to keep his job, won’t he?
“Double Jeopardy”, donchaknow?
Sheeese!
Why are some people so eager to get into a shooting war with EMPTY guns?
this was not a decision made lightly,
Why not? It should have ben very easy.
DO IT!
Goodlatte barely won re-election so he’s worried about his career. Some balls would help it!
Start with Holder and the Dept of Just-Us. They are protecting Obastard, and no investigation will proceed without DoJ assistance.
Hey, any cockroach in the Traitorobama administration they can step on is one less cockroach. Maybe if they get some practice, they can go after the Big Cockroach!
Forget Obamacare for now. It's a Dem mess and a Dem problem. No American is going to be able to forget it whether they want to or not. No need to push a train that's already rolling.
The timing for this is good: just as they waking to the reality of what they voted for twice, American people will get a good whiff of the true character of Barry's hatchet man. They'll be reminded of actual instances of flagrant abuses.
Holder is a cancer and must be locked up-- figuratively and literally. He is the bulwark between Barry and the justice he deserves.
My BIL just made an interesting comment, could the republicans be “testing” the impeachment waters?
No matter what any Rat has done, the Rats will cover for them.
Thanks bkopto.
i have never been introduced to an indictment
