A Texas Republican plans to introduce a resolution of Articles of Impeachment for Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday.
Rep. Pete Olsons (R-Texas) office said this morning that this was not a decision made lightly, but comes with Holders pattern of disregard for the rule of law and refusal to be forthright with Congress and the American people since being held in contempt in June 2012.
That 255-67 vote on criminal contempt, which included 17 Democrats, was tied to the Fast and Furious scandal and marked the first time Congress has found an attorney general in contempt. A measure of civil contempt then passed the House 258-95.
The impeachment measure will reportedly hit at Fast and Furious again, as well as the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups and spying on reporters.
According to Fox News, House GOP leadership and the Judiciary Committee, helmed by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), are not on board with Olsons effort. The Senate would have to convict Holder should the House vote for impeachment.
Original co-sponsors will be Reps. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.), Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.), Larry Buschon (R-Ind.), Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Randy Weber (R-Texas) and Roger Williams (R-Texas).
Olson is a member of the Republican Study Committee, a caucus of House conservatives.
The GOPe, yet again.
Holder DoJ.....yawn
They are impeaching the wrong person....
exactly... this is picking the wrong target... what a ninny.
What’s happening to the court case?
However, it’s a start. Impeachment hearings always make the bad guys run scared.
Right...but why not start with chopping off his limbs. Every one of his henchmen gone gets us closer to the goal...
exactly... this is picking the wrong target... what a ninny.
It is the wrong person but the guy is not a ninny to go after Holder.
Sorry Ozzy, the road to nowhere doesn’t lead to you, it leads to the senate.
a very good choice for a practice run ...
I applaud this action by congress. About time though.

FINALLY! Some US House Republicans have the courage to hold Holder accountable!
Next to Impeach should be Boehner, and then Obama, as Boehner will not Impeach Obama.
Call me right after the guillotine is set up and I’ll gladly pull the handle.
However, I fully expect the standard wimpoid no cojones Republican cave in.
Does that need more salt, tabasco, or sincerity?
If that isn’t the GOPe showing their true colors, I don’t know what is.
Anybody out there still think it’s feasable to ‘work within the party’? I’m also close to the point that unless the likes of Cruz, Palin, Lee, and some others don’t turn their back on the Republican Party I will question the seriousness of their words and their actions.
If the aforementioned are the real McCoy, the party bosses absolutely despise them. They will therefore never make any headway within the party.
Everyone knows time is short. Do we really have leadership or don’t we? Are those with money and influence willing to do what it takes to take this country back or aren’t we?
Who knows? Impeach one, and he might spill the beans on the other.
I doubt it, but it might happen.
It is about time Larry Buschon (R-Ind.), did something positive.
So, any bets on whether it will be his first or second defense to play the race card?
Wonder what DC Gossip Columnist Issa thinks about this.
